Phil Simpson is already making preparations for next season at Tooting & Mitcham despite not knowing whether he will still be the manager.

Despite extending their winless run to nine games with a goalless draw at Corinthian Casuals on Saturday, the Terrors' Ryman Division One South status is almost secure, with bottom club Walton Casuals now having to win their last three games to relegate them.

Simpson was put in charge until the end of the season when Jamie Martin resigned in February and, with rumours linking the club with a potential takeover by supporters, is still unsure whether his role will continue beyond two weeks time.

"There are a few things going on behind the scenes but all I know is I come in and work and do the best of my ability," he said.

"I started planning already for next season and will continue to plan just in case. You never know in Non-League football, in football in general anything can happen in the space of 30 seconds.

"I have a good relationship with the chairman Bill Hill and if he knows something definitive then he will tell me. I would like to be in control next season. If I can work with the boys for the whole season you would see a different mentality".
