The Barmy Bog End Army » Vs Uxbridge - Last game in the Isthmian League RIP » 22/4/2023 12:17 pm |
Safe travels to the hardy souls who are going today.
Going to be enjoying watching Bexy and The Hornchurch Boys at the "home of football" this afternoon.

Cheers all. Appreciate the clarification.
The Barmy Bog End Army » v Ashford » 19/4/2023 6:21 am |
Agreed. The ref absolutely killed the game. The first yellow for Gordon was an absolute no but the second was an absolute yes. To be fair, we actually did ok with 10 men. Was great to see Reese score and was a decent move. First half was probably more entertaining than half of the season. Although normal service was resumed in the second half.

Was there a tannoy message at the game tonight saying to take down the Adkins Out banners? Could half hear something but wasn't exactly sure what it was - about as clear as a 78rpm record being played under 200 feet of water as usual.
The Barmy Bog End Army » latest update from management » 16/4/2023 4:56 pm |
The Facebook post on the "Official" FB page was certainly interesting. Re-posting from the programme yesterday. What kind of reaction did they expect from people? To then say it's a family show and we'll start banning people? Tensions and opinions from the fans are rightly running high. Still no answers just more empty and meaningless platitudes.

Absolutely. Hudson and Manu weren't even close. Elias tried really hard again today and put in a load of effort but he's a wing back...not a goalscorer.
We knew we needed a goalscorer when Dan left. Shame the management didn't...
The Barmy Bog End Army » Toots v Leatherhead » 15/4/2023 5:43 pm |
Actually thought we played a lot better today than we have for a long time. Hutchings and Reese and Anuar and Charles all had, IMHO, a decent game. For the want of a forward we were certainly worth a draw (beaten by a very decent finish) and with a threat up front I actually think we'd have been in with a chance. Leatherhead certainly weren't much for a just off the playoffs team.
Shame it's all far too late.

Ok, a quick attempt to raise the spirits momentarily... Nominations for your Bog End Forum Player of the season?
I'm going for Nikolai. Although he has struggled a bit since being made captain (who wouldn't?) I think he has developed hugely and has been a glimmer of light in an awful season.
Pretty much an ever present, grown in confidence and has been pretty much solid and dependable.
54 players and counting to choose from

Ummmm...it will be good to see Hayden Bird? A quality manager.
Wondering how many more Tooting players will have done the off. Guessing Hudson and Lyle have gone too.
The weekly team update on FB dried up again after two weeks.
Leatherhead won't make the playoffs, so pretty much a nothing game.
The Barmy Bog End Army » A really Historic day for the Football Team - It finally died » 12/4/2023 2:13 pm |
Still nothing on the "official" FB and Twitter pages from the club.
Shame and embarrassment one hopes.
Surely they should be saying something to the fans (even if it's the usual meaningless dross of "we go again")?

Bernie - What happened with the golden goal at the Chipstead game? As a frequent ticket buyer I'd be interested to know.

I hope Andy Hunt has the good grace and courtesy to resign tonight.
Bosah isn't going anywhere and with 3 games to go it doesn't matter for this season anyway.
What am absolute shower of nothingness that was today. A wing back at centre forward again. Elias the Bog tried hard but he isn't a forward. Great effort by Anuar again. Gordon has looked half decent for a couple of games.
Hunt out now. Bosah out (very soon..).
The Barmy Bog End Army » Chertsey v Toots » 08/4/2023 7:27 pm |
Ev - Beginning to think Hunt is as bad. Or worse. The way he speaks to players is nasty and unprofessional. The way he plays his favourites (Lopes etc) and subs others playing much better. Brings in a load of dross from a bottom of the league team who can't get in their own team to another bottom of the league team. Tactically inept. Inability to find a centre forward. Not saying Ashley is much or any better but Hunt is certainly looking as bad.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Chertsey v Toots » 08/4/2023 6:33 pm |
We didn't do too bad first half. Playing Elias up front (Yep - forward situation is that bad..). Our goal came from a mistake but Gordon had a great first half and held things together. Keeper looked off par today. Second half we were as abysmal as every other game in recent times. Anuar who put in a good shift looked livid at being subbed whilst Lopes (who did less than nothing) was kept on. Dan Purdue said he is moving on. I wouldn't be surprised if Anwar says "bollerks" to it too. One win since Andy Hunt came in (he was on holiday then) and a whole tranche of senior players departed. Any bets on a circus ringmaster being made Director of Football before long?

Shamal only scored twice for Farnham today. Must be slipping...
Any report, please, from anyone who made the trip to Marlow?

The Barmy Bog End Army » Curiosity question » 21/3/2023 10:47 am |
Appreciate this might be better on a separate thread, but am trying to fathom out the "members club". Have read the stuff on the official website and have Googled some other bits but am still trying to work out the 'sphere of influence' and how it all works and fits together with the overall club ownership and direction etc. Is there an easy answer or is this a 'can of worms'?
The Barmy Bog End Army » Curiosity question » 20/3/2023 1:37 pm |
I've been to quite a few other non league games this season. At certain points Kingstonian supporters have been very vociferous about their displeasure at the directors/manager. But you never hear anti-manager or owner chants or songs at Tooting. I certainly don't think giving the players stick helps (however bad they are..) but is there an "unwritten rule" in the Bog End just to concentrate on positive and back the team songs and chants? I appreciate we probably have enough negativity at the stadium without adding more but, rightly or wrongly, expressing displeasure has long been a part of football across the whole pyramid.
The Barmy Bog End Army » T&M v SCR » 19/3/2023 1:20 pm |
I think Andy Hunt has made an effort to be a decent PR man and has made an effort with the fans. Started pretty well but it is now as much of a clown show as it was before. Enamorado at full back is absolutely clueless. Lopes has a good half in his first game and has contributed nothing since. The Bog again had a good first game but quickly went in to decline. I appreciate people have views on Cory (and Daly and Enoch) but I would have had them out there yesterday given the choice. The players who were Tooting have pretty much all gone leaving an all sorts bag of disengaged and disinterested loanees. Lyle held the ball up pretty well yesterday but had no support. But, for me, the whole season was summed up in ten seconds at the end of the first half. We get a corner, the big guys are up, we then go short and knock it out for a goal kick.
Quoting the Official TMUFC FB page "The double session has been really good for the squad to go through the patterns and situations we expect to face".
The mind truly boggles....
The Barmy Bog End Army » T&M v SCR » 18/3/2023 5:27 pm |
Absolutely. Rock. Bottom.
Clueless. No idea. No spirit. No one cares. Created nothing. Deserved nothing. Got nothing.
Too many loan players. Nothing invested in Tooting. Off at the end of the season. What do they care? Hartley Whitney bottom of the league above and we get the knock offs who go from one bottom of the league team to another.
Disappointed is the politest I can manage.....

I still keep harping back to my thought that we needed a couple of old lumps or cloggers in the team. It's a physical league and the (alleged) skill players need support and protection. Maybe too many players from the academy thinking they are PSG level with cute flicks rather than CCL. Shawn Lyle has provided a bit of strength but, as usual, too little too late.
The Barmy Bog End Army » More departures » 14/3/2023 10:13 am |
Daniel - 48 players this season. Wonder if the owner will come on the pitch and raise his bat to another half century on Saturday? Daly and Cory and Enoch and Jordan and Shamal going has just completely ripped the guts out of it. Now just thinking who's going to be next? Sad, sad times.
The Barmy Bog End Army » More departures » 14/3/2023 7:44 am |
Nathan Daly and Enoch have gone too. Shamal 5 goals and 2 assists in 4 games for Farnham. Maybe a better forward than wing back, but....hey ho..more tactical genius....
The Barmy Bog End Army » More departures » 13/3/2023 10:30 am |
Cory was a good motivator and fun to have around. Maybe with his Ph.D finished his work commitments have increased. Also, if he's teaching in Kent travel could be an issue. Issac Charles had a poor first game Saturday. Would much rather have had Cory on the pitch. Yes, he had his limitations as a player but certainly never lacked effort.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Another defeat. » 12/3/2023 1:16 pm |
Had a chat with Andy Hunt before the game yesterday. He comes across as a very friendly and open guy. He knows a lot of things still need changing and was very open about the current state of things. He was saying he is looking to create competition for places with the new faces and that a new decent striker would be asking for relatively big wages for our league and that a new striker would have to be up for the awful position we are in rather than a big earning passenger. He's in a difficult position. We know Tooting aren't the draw for players they once were which is obviously compounded by the current league position. I'm not sure if he is the answer going forwards but bringing him in 3-4 months earlier would put us in a much better position to know. He must be acutely aware of dwindling crowd numbers and I appreciated him making the effort to come and chat.
