Were you there Mike? The Met Police fielded about 8 players in their starting 11 from their previous league match I think. It was a competitive game so yes not a glamourous competition but worth getting a bit excited about as a sign of some of the early season issues being addressed. Winning any games is a good habit and builds confidence.

Presume you are aware of some recent signings the club has made and also a couple of players now moving on?

Entertaining game and very good performance from a Tooting side with a blend of first team regulars and under 23s . Looked like Met Police fielded a strong side and this showed early on as they controlled the game. Tooting gradually gained in confidence and from 30 minutes onwards were more than a match for the visitors. Dontai Stewart won and converted a penalty just before half time.

Tooting were generally on top in the second half and went very close a couple of times to extending the lead. For once the defensive unit looked really solid and there were few major alarms, whilst the midfield trio of Illic, Belford (my MOM) and Coleman were excellent.

We had another new goalkeeper - a loanee from Sutton United who is with us for a month. Looked very solidly and was very vocal!

A very positive performance to follow up on the success at the weekend.

Hi - I’m trying to organise playing of the song for you - if not Saturday then at another game in near future. There are a few that have recently passed that club should be recognising.

I’ve been asked by the programme editor for a short tribute to Joe. If anybody would like to write something that would be brilliant. We are also trying to source photos.

Send me a DM and I can share my email.

Thanks
Stephen

Danny, I was at the Erith & B cup game and hoped to see you in the bar before the game. I'm going to try and persuade the Ball & Chain to let me go to the game on Saturday, would love to buy you a beer or two.

Mr. Rubbery, I hope Joe provided the information and I provided the fun to our occasional chats.

If anyone is in contact with anyone at the club who has any clout,  (or if anyone with any clout reads this post) I'd love it if they could play ' He ain't heavy, he's my brother' by The Hollies before kick off or at half time. Me and Joe always  sponsored a player's kit and called ourselves 'The Blues Brothers', I'll probably blub if they do though https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons2/crying2.png

We can all be really angry / disappointed by where the club currently stands league wise - and really the decline started in the early 80s so way before the current leadership - but there are some great initiatives led by the likes of Adam and if we are not going to be a top non league club on the pitch then at least we can be a top club off the pitch.  I put together the volunteer rotas for matches and we cover about 20 match day jobs plus Lyn’s stewards which are all unpaid roles, and an overall pool of about 40 people prepared to lend a hand. Always could do with more if anybody on the forum can help at all. Thanks.

Looking for sponsors for our home league games. £25 gets you the opportunity to choose man of the match and present winner with award at the end the match with photo opportunities etc.

Dave Penn is organising and the email address is tmufcmom@gmail.com

Thanks

With all the new health related safeguards required for match days the club is looking for volunteers to cover a bunch of jobs on match days on a rota basis.

20 minute wobble either side of their goal where we struggled to pick up the ball in midfield, Razzaq looked to be injured at that stage and no DMG. However on balance we probably edged the game and Whyteleafe are a decent side looking at their results so far this season.

Great to see the video!

Dave

We are looking to offer discounts on the website for buying match tickets in the future but at this time they are more aimed for casual fans than regular supporters. As the Dorking game is an FA Cup match there are strict rules about admission prices so these could not be discounted.

The charge for one adult and one child admission would be £11 in the gate. Unfortunately the additional cost is the admin charge applied by See tickets and does not go to the club.

Would be interested to hear any thoughts about promotions that people think might work?

Almost. Tooting Bec lost Guildford City who then lost to them.

Always good to get a late winner!  I know its only the first game of the season, but turning 1 point into 3 is a good habit to get into.  Any team wanting to be in the promotion picture will always get late goals when they need them.

Good point made there. Norwich last season and Manchester United in seasons past spring to mind. Really important to follow this up on Tuesday now.

One thing to really note is the strength of our bench - all 5 on there on Saturday would be starting for most other teams in this league - we appear to have considerable strength in depth and I can think of at least two more (Ajani and Kyrique) not even involved in Saturday.

Agree there! Don’t think tackling and tracking back are his strengths. Much better when going in the direction of the opponent’s goal.

Agree. I haven’t really got a clue either! Seems like it could be any if about 25! I would have Hamlin partnering Sol at the back - just for the experience they would add.

Good luck to them I say but it is bitterly disappointing from a fans perspective that a season which was promising so much appears to be now heading down the pan.

I disagree with your last statement Alan. At worst the comings and goings I would say are fairly neutral - we’ve certainly picked up a number of new players now with experience at this level and the young players from last year are now a year older. I’m cautiously optimistic!

Barking are appealing against this. Crazy decision. Would make a lot more sense to push the North Kent teams into the North to allow us, Chipstead and South Park into he South East and extend the South Central into area North West of London.

I can’t see this being a long term venue for Dorking Wanderers if they are going to progress. I would have thought that there is very little opportunity to expand much beyond the set up they currently have. The spectating experience would not be great with any crowds much above 1000. Thought the attendance seemed larger than the official figure last night - presumably quite a few non paying guests.

Spot on Dave and I know this is something that the management are aware of from the few times I’ve spoken to them. I guess proven centre forwards are like gold dust though - hopefully Dan Summers is currently shifting some weight in time for next season.

Even if Westfield win they have virtually no chance of progressing as they are currently bottom of ppg of all teams that can still potentially get promoted. Marlow’s situation is not much better.
