Thank you for that mischievous post title David. I bet most were hoping to see that the manager had stepped down!  But seriously, good luck with the next stage of your life, hopefully we'll see you at the odd Terrors game in the future.

I could only make the second half due to other commitments but was assured, on arrival, that I "hadn't missed much". For a change I abandoned my usual berth behind the goal and spent most of the second 45 at the top of the main stand to get a more even handed view of the proceedings. On offer was the worst quality game I've seen for quite a while. Both sides were abysmal, all passing movements breaking down very quickly and virtualy no chances created at all. I was surprised how bad Bedfont looked, considering how they destroyed Tooting in the second half of the return fixture a few months ago. The bobbly excuse of a pitch has a lot to do with it, but if its going to cost any money to improve it, it won't get done. The game fizzled out with the feel of an end of season fixture with not much to play for, whether that is actually the case who knows.

Off the pitch was a surprise as well. All season we've had pretty good support, healthy ish home crowds and very vocal with it, despite what rubbish we've had to endure this season. Yesterday looked a small attendance and had a dead atmosphere. Maybe our assumed safety from relegation took the edge out of the game. You could excuse any new or casual Tooting fans staying away after watching this poor team, an opportunity missed, I think. The season cannot end too quickly.

I thought out management team were a bit more animated than usual. Maybe playing up to the Sky cameras which were in their faces most of the game. Sky being there is surely a distraction that we do not need at the moment and might it even affect team selection and substitutions ?

Another loss, and with Sutton Common Rovers winning, our predicament at the bottom of the division is getting worse by the week. I can't make much of a case for us winning this game, maybe deserved a point. Possession was about even in the first 45 and apart from a few long range efforts for us that went close we didn't pose enough problems for them. The Tooting keeper was the busier of the two and we were probably fortunate to go into half time just the one goal down. We improved after the break, increased our share of possession, created one or two chances but lacked the quality to score from them. Taking Billy Brown off when we were getting on top looked a strange move as he was one of our more effective players going forward, the game just faded after that.

A very good crowd, a sizable away following and looked a lot  more than the 280 posted on the league website.

Lastly, the pitch. There was very little quality football from either side in this game. The pitch looks ok from a distance, but is very uneven and bobbly. The players don't trust the surface so one touch football becomes difficult. If you train on the plastic pitch, then play matches on this, it has to effect confidence and the general standard of play goes down.  Our pitch has been very good for many years but seems to have deteriorated lately.  I'm no groundsman so don't know how hard this is to rectify. Too many games, not enough maintenance I suppose.

The Sutton game looks to be a real 6 pointer when it eventually gets played. I've just looked at the fixture list and it could get worse for us. Sutton Common Rovers are playing Stains and Chalfont in the coming weeks whilst we have teams that are chasing promotion.

I was quite surprised that Guernsey seemed to settle for a point in the second half. They got themselves back in the game after going behind early and arguably went into the break the stronger of the two sides.
The pitch looks ok from a distance but does seem very bobbly and makes for a more difficult passing game. I don't know if that can be easily rectified by heavy roller or maybe the weather is hampering things.

The last two home league games have seen 300 plus attendances, with not much to cheer about. As Mike says, a team challenging for promotion and a winning team should push up crowds even more.

Well that is one game that will live long in the memory, for all the wrong reasons. After cruising into a 3 nil lead, if we could have got to half time without conceding it might have been a different game. Their opening goal just before the break was arguably the most important goal of the game. It gave them hope and it put doubt in the minds of the Tooting players. Their second goal early in the 2nd half raised Bedfonts confidence even more and they looked likely to score every time they came forward. Their left winger in particular, gave us many problems and our managers had no answer to keep him quiet. Maybe Hamlin on at right back might have had the know how to slow him down, but he stayed on the bench. Even our 4th goal direct from a corner didn't calm the nerves, we all knew we were not going to win the game. The inevitable Bedfont goals came easily to them. Game management doesn't seem to exist in our managers minds, no direction from them and no attempt to bolster our defence to get some sort of result from the game. I have to say that Bedfonts winner, from the halfway line, was magnificent, a fitting goal to win the game for them, and they deserved it.
Where does that leave us? We seem to be in a pretty unique position, where the management seem to be untouchable, despite results and performances that would have seen them sacked at most other clubs. Even relegation wouldn't bother Adkins as long as his business model is being followed by the management. I said yesterday that I wouldn't mind going down if there was the slightest chance of Adkins getting rid of these clowns and changing his attitude towards the first team. There was great away support for the team yesterday, we deserve better.

I watched Isaiah Jones star in Middlesbroughs one nil win over Bournemouth yesterday on the telly. To think I didn't even rate him that much in his time at Tooting. Shows how much I know, even after watching football for 50 odd years. I think that football scouts are  looking for the things that are not obvious to the normal average football watcher, work rate and positioning out of possession, mental application even if having a terrible game, etc etc. We'll have to see if he progresses any further. I didn't think Antonio had a Premier League career in him but I got that wrong as well !

I thought it was an entertaining game. First half in particular Tooting looked dangerous and produced several chances only for the usual defensive lapses to put us behind at half time. It was disappointing that we looked worse in the second half and  were reduced to a few half chances which we were not able to take.
I thought the crowd was more than the stated 184, it looked way over 200 to me, with lots of new faces. Its a shame we can't give them a winning team to cheer on at the moment, I hope they keep coming and keep what little faith there is out there.

Most football club owners at any level would be concerned about their clubs fortunes on the pitch, most managers would be angry about performance on the pitch and be having sleepless nights wondering how to rectify the situation. At our club neither seems to be the case, all they're bothered about is the youth set up.

I don't know how common this scenario is. Managers at the higher levels of the game are well known for ignoring the young players at their clubs, preferring instead to use tried and trusted players that get instant results. Not with us, young players get put in the team, whether they are good enough or not, one or two ageing hasbeens who are prepared to play for virtually nothing, make up the rest of the side. You get the feeling that the 1st Team is seen as an irritating necessity that has to be endured rather than being the main focus of the football club.

No doubt the owner must take most of the blame, he has the resources to improve the team, but chooses not to. But the management team are more than happy to go along with the owners view of how the club should be run. Bringing through young players is their interest, so let them do that, but at 1st team level they look completely out of their depth.

Unfortunately I cannot see any chance of anything changing, if the puppet management team continue being compliant to the owners wishes, their jobs are safe. Adkins is not going anywhere unless a middle eastern country fancies a go at it. All doom and gloom I'm afraid, and no light at the end of a very long tunnel.

No points but a very encouraging performance against one of the stronger teams in the division. We were in the game right up until the final whistle and Bracknell could not have complained had we got a draw.
A more settled defence would make us less vulnerable at the back, an improvement in that area might see us steadily climb up the league and a playoff place could still be a possibility. The handbags at the end were not in keeping with the rest of the game and was the only disappointment in an otherwise very enjoyable game.

I wouldn't worry about that too much Danny. People react to bad results in different ways. Some people aren't bothered, for others it ruins their weekend. I've normally got it out of my system 5 minutes after the final whistle. At least we have new fans showing an interest.

Darren, keep buying those lottery tickets, because, you are right, no experienced manager that know players and know this league will come to us without a half decent budget to work with.

I don't feel grateful that I have a club to support. People praising Adkins for keeping the club afloat just gives him a free pass to continue down his current path and run the club into the ground. He knew what he was getting into before he took over, but continues to cut the budget despite the resources that could be on offer. I'm pretty sure that people in the local non league scene cannot believe that we are where we are, considering the facilities we have.

Last weeks win against Northwood looked good on paper, but those that were there could see that there were glaring weaknesses in our game. It quietened down the doubters for a week but that game was never one to gauge where we are as a team in this division. The next two league games against high flying Bracknell and Uxbridge will tell us more. 2 or more points from these matches would indicate progress and give us confidence to press for a playoff place later on in the season. 2 defeats and we're back where we were. Lower mid table, not good enough for a club like ours.

I got to wondering this morning, over what might have been, had the Joe Sealey consortium managed to take over the club a decade ago. Sealey seems to have made a success of his sports management business, but sold up and is now out of football.

Would it have been the usual big investment at the start, rapid rise up the league, then crash and burn when the going got tough ? Who knows. Undoubtedly short term exitement for fans, but the risk of not having a club to support at the end of it.  Or the slower, sensible approach, reasonable investment in the team, steady improvement  which would see the club rise up the league to a decent, sustainable level which would see increased revenue and a larger, solid fanbase.

The present ownership and his puppet management team seem so entrenched in the club at the moment, that fans can't see anything changing for the foreseeable future. Zero investment in the first team and instead concentrating on the youth setup does nothing to progress the club and instead diminishes the clubs once great standing in non league football.

Personally I don't like either model. I, like most Terrors fans I know, would be quite happy with moderate success, with playing and strongly competing in the Isthmian Premier the very minimum requirement. This, surely cannot be out of the question given our ground and resources. Sadly, with an owner who has little interest in football, even this is a distant hope for Tooting fans.

A disappointing afternoon for the Terrors with Thatcham well worth the 3 points in the end.  It was a pretty even first half with Tooting not able to score with a couple of half chances that came our way. Thatcham instead took their chance when a poor defensive clearance gifted them a goal that sent them into the halftime break with a slim advantage.
Thatcham doubled their lead early in the second half and from then on they seemed to get stronger while we lost any  confidence that we could get back in the game. Apart from a superbly well taken goal from our sub who had just come on, we offered very little as an attacking threat and their keeper had a very easy second 45 minutes.
The two Thatcham centre backs dealt with our puny attacks without breaking sweat and it was the visitors who could easily have increased their lead towards the end of the game. Very poor from us and no excuses.
The league table is not good reading and the next game against Sutton Common Rovers just shows how far the club has fallen in recent times. Lose that and there's going to be some very unhappy Terrors fans around.

The only time this forum comes alive is when things start going badly on the pitch, much the same as with other clubs forums. Looks like its going to be lively on here then this season.
I'm with Evthedog about the youth programme. I pay to watch the first team and hardly any of the young  players that have been moved on to pro clubs have had any positive impact on the first team. I'm sick of hearing from the club what a success it is. Success for me is winning and getting out of this division and into the Premier where we belong.
As for the "talented managers" comment, no evidence of that so far, they've been with us a while and we've achieved nothing.

Mike, I'm quite used to see us perform badly at home after all these years, I just want to see my team, win lose or draw, without having any problems with online tickets.  What I would really like to know, as I am sure others do, is can you pay at the turnstile with proper money.

I didn't go yesterday. I know I left it quite late but I was unable to access my account to get a ticket. It said " product unavailable" and wouldn't accept my password, which worked perfectly well last week. I gave up and did a few jobs at home instead. On the club website it says it is currently ticket only, but I'm now told I could have paid on the turnstile. So what is the situation here ?

Yesterdays game was never going to be easy.  Chertsey were there to get revenge for the mauling they got at their place earlier on in the season. And revenge was exactly what they got.  The 1-2 scoreline flattered us. We were 2nd rate in all departments, on and off the pitch.  The one good moment in the game was a superbly well taken goal from Danny Bassett, apart from that it was a game to try and forget.

The sight of Sol Patterson Bonner getting yet another red card for gobbing off at the ref is getting tedious now.  He is supposed to be a senior player, use a bit of intelligence and lead by example, but that seems beyond him, he is a liability.

But, is it any wonder he thinks he can say what he likes to referees, when he hears and sees our coaching staff doing worse.  The antics and language from the dugout brought back bad  memories from the Richard Cadette years , red cards for all of them wouldn't have been an over reaction. The thuggish behaviour from the bloke with MW on his coat was particularly nasty in trying to intimidate the linesman.  If this is going to continue I'd rather see the back of them and get in a proper manager, who knows what he's doing and knows how to behave.  It was only a few months ago that some of you were ready to give knighthoods to these clowns, after yesterdays events I hope you've all reconsidered.

Agreed.  A very entertaining game with the points in doubt right up to the final whistle.  My man of the match was Danny Basset, phenomenal work rate from him, especially in the first half.

Yes, should have had a penalty in the second half, with what looked a pretty obvious handball.
One frustration for me, constantly giving the ball away in the late stages of the game, playing high risk passes when going for a third goal. Yes, that third goal would have killed the game, but Ware looked pretty decent going forward themselves. A little bit more care in possession in that time would have made the last ten minutes a little less tense.
