Mr. Adkins already has the manager of his dreams.

It's not the first team manager that is the problem Gary, it's Adkins.  Unless he fully signs up to first team success over the long term the manager will amount to diddly squat.
Can't see it myself.

Why in Earth would he leave Chertsey, a good club which may well be in the Premier next season for a basket case like Tooting?

If Adkins puts his hand in his pocket for a proven quality striker, he'll need to put it in six or seven more times for players who can support him.

Can't see it myself.

Can anyone out there enlighten us as to what was on the offending/truthful T shirt?

Will the club shop be selling them next year?

Blimey!  One has to laugh.

But seeing as Whyteleafe folded before a ball was kicked, they can't be relegated.  How does this affect things?  As Whyteleafe obviously doesn't figure; how does this affect promotion from the lower divisions?  One less team going down must mean one less coming up.  There will be a team somewhere who have woken up this morning to find that a possible promotion is no more.

What a cock-up, even if it does look like it has probably bailed us out.

Someone out there has the answer.  Help me out please!

It is the total humiliation and indignity of dropping down into the great nothing.  Yes, this division is shite, but the Combined Counties, or whatever other division that might host us, is the pits.

IF we do go down it will be interesting to see who at the club is still willing to drink Adkins' coolaid.  Will it be too hard to swallow resulting in much reduced gates, or will the sale if coolaid increase?

Maybe the club's most important match in its history.

It is not about a promotion or relegation within the Istmian leagues; it is not about a lucrative FA Cup match against a national league team; it is about the club, in first team terms, sinking into oblivion.  We HAVE to beat Sutton Common Rovers.  Anything less will almost certainly see Tooting and Mitcham United wiped off the football Map.

You old cynic Dan!  It's all wonderful, especially in the board room!  Get on board and join the yoof revolution at the club.  It's gonna be great!  Get down with the kids!

Maidstone, Dulwich, Dorking, Dover, Wealdstone, Concord, Dartford, Billericay, Tonbridge, Worthing, Lewis, Carshalton, Corinthian Casuals, Horsham, Merstham: we played them all at Imperial Fields. Where are they now?

Who's laughing now?

An excellent book.  So many happy and sad memories.  For me; our great cup matches of the 70s and our two promotions in this century.

It is criminal that the club is now in its worst ever condition, teetering on the edge of purgatory that is the Combined Counties.

Exciting isn't it!  It might just get the Adkins apologists out of jail and enable them to imbibe in more S&L coolaid next season.

Oh what larks!

One other thing that I forgot to mention in my post.

Frank Wilson, despite the plight of his team and the match being only a friendly against a side noticeably poorer than his, looked like he really cared.  He was passionate about his team.  This was something that our coaching staff showed very little of.

Well, what can I say?  It was like Kindergarten Cop with Deano as the only adult in the room.  This was my first match since the start of the pandemic, and I only went because it was free and to see Gary.

First, there was a time only a few years ago when 50 or 60 Tooting fans would have turned out for a local friendly against a team one division higher.  I think that there were 7 or 8 of us.  This showed me that fans do not really care anymore.

Second, the football was total crap.  Merstham were poor and we were even poorer.  No game plan; no shape; no passion and no pride.  The goalkeeper who started was the worse that I have ever seen in a Tooting side and the defender wearing No.20 had no right to be wearing a football shirt.  It was like watching group of headless chickens running around a farmyard.  Brown looked good though, and Daly looked useful when he came on and the black guy who came on in goal looked good too.

Third.  As Gary said, there was one supporter in particular who thought it was all great (perhaps Members Club? I had never seen him before nor recognised his voice) who was actually cheering mistakes and was clapping like a circus seal on amphetamines at full time,  as if he had watched a six nil Tooting win.  I don't care about the age of the players: if they are not up to it they need to be told they are not up to it, and not clapped at the end of the match.

Fourth, our goal was off side by a big margin, but I always have said take what you are given and it was well taken.

Fifth.  As Gary said, it now been admitted by someone at the club that it is a youth project with no pretence about being about quality first team football.  But we all knew that anyway.  Some just do not want to open their eyes to it.

Six.  I came away feeling fully vindicated in my decision not to waste my money watching this parody of a football team.  Yes, it was a very sad experience, especially thinking back to the team that we had just five year

I was not surprised to find no mention of this match on the official Tooting page when I looked just now.  It is on the Merstham page though.

So do a few of the other teams above us Andy.  Crowd size does not limit a club's ambition.
