Toots 4 Old Bill 1

A goal down early on (6 mins) we equalised through Christiano Neto/Goncalves/Ronaldo who lobbed one over the goalie from out wide, nobody I spoke to was sure if it was meant as a cross or a shot.....he certainly celebrated like he meant it as a shot. Jordan Cheadle conceded a penalty in the second half for handball when his clumsy attempt to control the ball in the box bounced up and hit his hand( much to Frank's amusement no doubt), Sol Pinnock expertly slotted home. Salako put us in complete control with the third after good work by Serge and Sol Pinnock put the icing on the cake with the pick of the bunch, running diagonally from right to left finding space inside the area and slotting into the far corner, lovely goal. Daryl was outstanding once again and a mention in despatches also for Budgie, Ashley, Simmo and Christiano (not the most gifted granted but I adore his attitude).

Special mention to the cowardly ref who failed to send off the Filth's custodian after the worst tackle I've seen in the past two hundred years resulted in Jake Baxter having to go off before half-time. The ref was ably unassisted by the Lino in front of the main stand who was just guessing most of the time (wrongly in the majority of cases) and gave the ref no guidance whatsoever when Jake was butchered by the keeper even though the offence (sorry, assault) was right in front of him.

There were still a few rumblings of discontent among the fans that I heard but personally I left thouroughly entertained and happy.....but there again I am easily pleased.

Excellent result. You can only beat what is put in front of you well done to the team and management.
As I said before courage is required give them 3 full seasons to get on with the job. Not many there again though so that must be why the budget cant be found for replacements for recent departures?

Re: Toots 4 Old Bill 1

Can't say I was over-impressed by our performance - there were a lot of errors and we gave the ball away far too often.  But, we did come from behind despite losing 2 players to injury in the 1st half.  And we were pushing hard for a winner when the scores were still level, so the attitude looked good.

As for Cristiano's goal celebration - a couple of poorly executed forward rolls - what's he going to be like when he scores a proper goal!

And as for our penalty - I'm sure most of us agree that we would be livid if one of our defenders were penalised for that.

But its a cup game and you just have to find ways to win.

Looking at some of the teams still in it, there are some shocking away trips still there - so lets hope for a home draw!

Perhaps if we score at Chipstead on Saturday you will be able to demonstrate to us all how a forward roll should be executed " NURSE"

good luck with that.

Re: Toots 4 Old Bill 1

Agree with most of all the above comments.

We can only beat what is in front of us, and that is what we did. The surface made the game difficult with a lot of players slipping around all over the place.

It's a shame to see Sol PB come off again with an injury. I really think his ability and presence (Captain) on the pitch makes a difference to the whole side. He is definitely a natural leader in our team (Simmo being the other one).

What I would like to note is how tight the group seem. They seem a supportive bunch and when we scored goals it was really nice to see the team spirit.

Cristiano's goal was 100% a cross. No doubt about it. I think he's added something to us in recent games. He is dogged in his defending and puts 110% in. Perhaps not the neatest or most technical player, but breaks up play pretty well and gets in the faces of the opposition. If we are definitely going to play that deep lying midfielder, which I don't think we always should, then I'd rather it be Cristiano than Ashley Robbo. Push Robbo further up the field.

P.S. we still need another midfielder to be brought in.

I would at least like to recognise the manager and team for doing much more to play the ball on the ground and pass to feet from the back to midfield, rather than hoof. Hoof is certainly stil relevant in cases, but shouldn't be the rule itself.

A win at Chipstead should see us build some momentum and confidence. (Could that be the first three wins on the bounce this season?? Hope I'm not tempting fate). BUT the players shouldn't expect to win against Chipstead, the players must fight for it. After all Chipstead have signed a fair few players in the last few days so they will be determined to win against us! Complacency in football is extremely dangerous.

Not convinced by Adam Faith. Seems like he has a mistake or two in him and some of his distribution decision making was poor last night - putting us under pressure unnecessarily. Still, it was a wet surface and a first game for him for a little while, so willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps a run of games will do him the world of good. He is a good shot stopper.

Whilst Serge did very well for the third goal (scored by Solako), he needs to do much much much more to look interested during the game. He seems like a passenger half the time, jogging around looking half interest. No doubt he is one of the more technically gifted players in our team, able to dribble and beat a man effortlessly, but he needs to decide when this is necessary and when this isn't. And give 10% more to support the team throughout the game. A match winner at his best, but a passenger for large parts of the game too.

Special mention to both Darryl and Ollie Treacher last night. Both were excellent.
