Re: HASTINGS

Not really a time for poems Gary
cos I'm feeling sad for the club
but to coin a phrase from someone
who was much cleverer than me
we keep doing the same thing over again
isnt that the sign of insanity ?

Re: HASTINGS

A shite afternoon provided by two shite teams.  One midfield player in particular need to go.  He reminds me of the hapless Jason Pinnock.

Re: HASTINGS

went today hoping to see the improvement mentioned after the hythe game unfortunatly disappointed played on the floor yes,but no end product no real penetration until leon came on nobody looked remotely like scoring.hastings deserved to win ,but not a very convincing team as for us well those of you who were there saw that the hastings goalkeeper only had one decent save to make on an easy afternoon for him.very poor.

Re: HASTINGS

Again Leon came on too late. What's the kid got to do to get a start? Shame we have to go 1-0 down before Frank brings him on!

Re: HASTINGS

Just when you hope things mught be picking up, and this game comes along.
Two poor teams but one team wanted it more, we could have been two down inside five minutes but for some woeful finishing. First half showed all the signs of being a nil nil draw, neither team after our poor, start worked either keeper, some of our passing was woeful, one player, who I would not name because I do not feel it right, was particularly guilty and personally speaking I would not be sorry to see leave, but then saying that none of our front line covered themselves with any glory, you have to feel sorry for Jamie he just does not get any service at all and is being made to look as bad as some of his forward teamates, I do hope he sticks it out but would not blame him if he decides this team is not for him.
The second half started a little better, but not a lot, when Hastings scored their goal you just knew that their was no way back for "Tooting", until that is when Leon came on then inside a couple of minutes, twice he nearly bought us level.
The penalty whilst just, was unfair on "Tooting", as it flattered our opponents who were not much better than us.
I was going to book my tickets for "Guernsey" tomorrow, that is once again on hold, if this is how we are going to perform, my money will be better off in my pocket.

Re: HASTINGS

Just what are you trying to say "Fretters"

Re: HASTINGS

Just noticed on "K`s"  web site, Brendan Murphy McVey only came on in the 90th minute today, he barely gets a game.

How we could do with a player of his quality again, ah well it was good while it lasted, but what a waste of a talent. They must have some very good players to be able to leave him on the bench!

Re: HASTINGS

Gary you make loads of sense and MikeM is fast catching you up . There appear to be me more names on this site starting to express a regular objective view. What i find is really strange is that some seem to still be blindly following Frank when even a decent coach with loads of know how like Hamms cant see what he is trying to do. I can understand loyalty.but ....Geez talk about how to ruin a team in 12 weeks!

Re: HASTINGS

The same way that Craig Tanner was blindly followed for two seasons.  If Craig got two seasons why should Frank not get the same period?  Craig had 19 points after 15 games so there is not much between them really, but no one after 15 games was calling for his head.

Re: HASTINGS

Let's forget about the manager for a moment & talk about players. There is no point in playing Jamie Byatt up front on his own. He needs another striker up there with him, someone who he can feed off. Ideally two strikers & he can  play just behind them, that's where Jamie is dangerous, but I don't think the manager would be that adventurous.

Re: HASTINGS

I don't think Hastings were poor. They were solid, well organised and deserved the 3 points. We, on the other have have some good skillfull players who like to do a trick but team play is non existant. I feel sorry for Jamie playing on his own up front, we are not using him well, he needs the ball to his feet and for him to run onto intelligent through balls but we don,t seem to have the players to do that. This has to come from the training field and from the management who have to pick the players to do that job. I don't think the budget has anything to do with it, if other clubs can put out a decent football team with a fraction of the money that we,ve got, then why can't we ?

Re: HASTINGS

Geoff I couldnt say it better myself its not about the manager its about the club . We have an excellent acadamy which was recognised by the previous regime. The style of play then allowed the club and the team to grow using a style of play that although didnt always get results had a method to it . We dont have a style now and we are not good to watch and we lose against poor teams . In my and many other fans view Frank doesnt have the know how and his depth of understanding of non league isnt there either. Look back through my posts and you will see i always have advocated for Frank to get 3 full seasons. My view is that Adkins can at least say he gave him a proper chance which wasnt afforded to previous regimes. But I reckon I know who will blink first .
Gary? No he will not get us out of this mess just though how much Frank resembles Stan Laurel

We didn't forget about the manager for long in your post Geoff which sadly where it starts and finishes.
I know Ev would not like it but I would bring Craig back . I have spoke to Craig hundred times since he left and he has learned so much from his time as manager and had plenty of time to be out of the situation to reflect on his mistakes. I have spoken to plenty of players playing Ryman Premier football who are willing to drop to play for Craig . They can not all be wrong can they ?

That is now (I think) 53 players and 14 managers who are now waiting at the gates of Imperial Fields.  But seriously.  That run of games last Winter, was it one win in fifteen games, really did it for me.  It was grim.  But, as I have said previoulsy, I was all for Craig having 'till Christmas to tweak his tactics and sort it all out but it was not to be.

Re: HASTINGS

Evthedog at least agrees that the previous regime should have had till xmas. I agree with Ev too that the 15 game run was shocking but i felt the loss of the keeper was the contributing factor. Lets get a comparison at the end of this month but i doubt if we will be in a play off spot as we were the same time last year.
Good passionate debate chaps we all just want the best for the club .

Re: HASTINGS

We all want the best for tooting, whether with Frank as manager or not.Does any one know the owner?I would just like to know his opinion on how he thinks its going and how long he will give any manager?Frank must have impressed Steve with his passion or Promise's of promotion, because as has been said he's not experienced. As for tactics,I said early on that Jamie can't do on his own.we have wing backs, yes?they get up the pitch, then what?do they cross? Not much point with small striker and not a goal scoring midfielder. So new players needed or change of system? Can't see a change in manager any time soon, unless things get worse. If we score first its ok, but once we fall behind we loose all shape and pattern to our play.Like everyone else can't see why Leon doesn't get chance, unless it's because he is unpredictable. So Frank thinks we won't keep shape??He likes a strictly rigid formation maybe. No plan b

Re: HASTINGS

I was waiting for somebody to suggest that Hastings were not as poor as the majority of our correspondents seem to feel.
And I agree with you Andy

In fact I will go further and suggest that most of the teams we have played so far this season, even/including those in the bottom half of the table, have been much better organised and more committed that we saw last season when I fully agree the standard in Ryman Soith was really dire (which you may feel ultimately cost Craig & Adam their positions -sadly)
Feel free to disagree chaps.

Now we have largely stopped the aimless long ball forward I don't see too much wrong with our play except.......it simply does not generate enough goal scoring chances.
And ultimately that is what it is all about. Certainly if you don't score a goal in 90 mins you will not win any matches (I got that wisdom from page 1 of 'The Bunty - Football Coaching for Girls' that is, as always, my guide in all footie matters)

I can only report from my position by the side of the dugout that there was not lack of detailed analysis and coaching input.  Let's see what the expected strengthening of the side brngs and of course the return of missing influential players.

I am not worried about Combined Counties Football personally as it is less to get in and less away travel expense.

Yeah, and loads of new grounds to visit, a better chance of winning, fewer trips to the far flung Kent coast. Gotta be better than getting promoted and all those away trips to Essex and Suffolk, sod that, give me Raynes Park Vale away any day. There, how positive is that ? All together now " Farnham, Farnham, here we come, Farnham, here we come"
