" Has the world gone mad or is it me ? "
I've just read on the BBC Sport Website that Whitehawk FC have approached the FA with a view to changing their name to Brighton City FC !! I get the impression their fans aren't too keen on the idea. It's better than Shitehawk I suppose.
I had the steaming arseache when we changed our badge, imagine if Mr Adkins wanted to call us Morden Town FC I honestly think I'd stop going.

Being serious, perhaps they feel the name is more conducive to their level on the football pyramid.
Just a thought.

Last Saturday was a bit of a mad one for me. Had to go to Swindon in the early morning and dashed back to catch the second half.
On the train going out I saw a little football ground (smaller than ours) beloninging to a Reading Town FC.
I quite like football teams nicking a name off their larger neaighbours. FC Manchester (or whatever they're called) are fine by me.

I believe at one point Whitehawk wanted to change their name to East Brighton. I think it was after I had moved from living there and they had just started to move up the divisions. They were managed by Darren Freeman around then ex-Brighton & Hove Albion player and scorer of Albion's first goal Withdean Stadium after the club's directors sold off the Goldstone Ground.
Some people like to call Whitehawk 'East Brighton' as it's such a dump and they thought the new name made it sound a bit nicer... But then the East Brighton name got the same reputation so back to square one...although perhaps not quite.
