WORTHING

Congratulations on winning the final, and may your success continue into the premier division.

Turn back the clock and they were asking players to play for nothing! and I believe most did stay, they had a new owner/chairman, who took the club by the scruff of the neck and turned it into the success that it is today, it just goes to show that with dedication and hard work success can and usually does follow.

I will miss the visit to their ground as you always, certainly in my experience, felt welcome, especially as I was normally the first one there and waiting for the bar to open.

Well done and long may it continue.

Re: WORTHING

I echo those sentiments Ashtree. Good luck to Worthing, one of the better trips, grounds, bars, facilities in the division. Wish we could have got shot of one of the Kent teams.

Someone'd better warn Ryman Premier fans about the burgers though  "Blooarggggh"

Re: WORTHING

The only thing I'll miss down there is the visit to the Brooksteed Ale House. The pitch is awful, the burgers poisonous and the wait for a coffee is unbearable.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left !

Re: WORTHING

Service in the bar is not bad Dave, even if the ale selection is lacking.
Could not agree with you more Cricket, apart from Whitstable, my son in law will miss his oysters and shellfish.
See you Wednesday.

Re: WORTHING

That's very true Ashtree, if I could've picked one Kent team to get rid of Whitstable would probably been the last choice, lovely town.

Re: WORTHING

I have to admit I enjoyed my trip there in 2014.  The bit that caught my attention was the rather jolly announcer/DJ/comedian up in the stand. Dedicating songs to Doris Day on her 90th, playing the rather jovial 'Sports Report' old school theme (which I kept humming, rather to the annoyance of Little Bill) and one or two other amusing sounding pieces, as well as advertising various WI events and school fetes etc.  Very much the Frank Bough of the piece, while our Roy is a steady reliable Dicky Davies......
