Barnsley U21s away ? Bloody hell that's a weird one ! Is it at Oakwell Andy ? If it is I might go, I've never been to Barnsley but I suppose my luck's gotta run out sometime

It's at the ground ajoining to oakwell. Apparently Paul Dale has links to Barnsley. It's a shame I'm on holiday that week otherwise I might have popped up there.

If anybody does go, bring me back an Eccles cake

Eccles cakes are from Manchester not Yorkshire you plum. You of all people should've known that

You can tell Darren Gough that then Cricket, because I will not, he comes from Barnsley and he is always going on about them.

Yes but I think Goughy is a bit of a confused character Ash, like you say, he comes from Barnsley but he supports Spurs It's bad enough coming from Tottenham and supporting Spurs but Barnsley ?!?!?

No TimTams then?
Funny you should mention that 59er because there's a Township in New South Wales called Barnsley, honest.

And there's a striker called Chris Harold playing in the A League for Perth Glory FC this season which probably makes him the 2nd best footballer called Chris Harold that's ever lived
And the coincidence doesn't end there, I've just looked him up on Wikipedia and he's exactly the same height and weight as me........i.e. short and heavy So his prospects of a transfer to the Barclays Premier League don't look too promising.

There are thoughts of some of us maybe going up to Barnsley for the day on the old choo choo - with a railcard circa £28 return'ish.
Anybody else considering it ?

I would have taken it but will be on holiday. In about 1971/2 season my old maltese club played Barnsley in a friendly just before the english season started, so Barnsley took it very serious & won the game 16-0. This could happen to Tooting & Mitcham as again it will be just before their season starts.

A 3 hour journey sat next to DeePee ? " Did you know the Wankel rotary engine has the combustion output of 200 lbs per square inch and has the manifold capabilities of a Rolls Royce ?" " No, I never realizzzzzz"
Think I'll take a raincheck on that one
Just kidding Deeps, let us know your plans, I might just join you if I'm still welcome !

Easier for me to get there than Imperial Fields! This will probably be the first T and M team to play in Yorkshire since the FA Cup and Trophy matches at Bradford and Scarborough in 1976. Does the 1.00 kick off mean that there will be an interesting first team match at the main ground at 3.00?. I think the local delicacy is Pontefract cakes. .

Keep an eye out on the Official TMUFC Facebook page for news on this fixture. The KO time may be subject to change (am told that Barnsley originally wanted an 11:00am kick off!)

Yes, Barnsley have arranged a first XI fixture against local rivals Leeds United so the pubs around the ground and in the town centre will be heaving with Leeds fans all afternoon. They hate cockneys so expect outward displays of hostility and violence from the dirty northern ponces.
Only kidding, there's nothing about pre season friendlies on the Barnsley website at the moment. You'd think they'd be bragging about their U21's hosting a prestigious friendly against the champions of London wouldn't you ? After all, it must be a great honour for them !
