Re: Pre-season friendlies

All bar one of the above named players (who I'm told is still currently on his overseas travels), along with 3 or 4 new faces, have returned for pre-season training in the past couple of weeks.

Re: Pre-season friendlies

That's a pretty good return rate. I don't think we've had that many returnees for many years - even in Billy Smith's time.  However, we do need new players as I can't see last year's XI making an additional 30-40 points this season. I think the central defence needs improvement and I'm not sure Pierson is a championship winning keeper.

In midfield we look quite solid and I'm predicting a good season for Kurtis Pykes. He started last season as a reserve but showed a dramatic improvement in the middle of the season. And I was a bit surprised that he was benched during the run in. This could be the season he turns into a key player. And we need more goals from players other than Baxter. Whether Barrington will turn into a goalscorer or whether more midfielders chip in I don't know - preferably both!

Re: Pre-season friendlies

Sadly 59er the "new faces" are not any that I recognise so unable to tell you! Elliott Simpson has been down for a couple of the sessions however whether or not that means we shall be seeing him in black & white (or purple) again remains to be seen. Hopefully we will know a little more at the end of the week when Frank announces the squad that will be travelling to Barnsley

Re: Pre-season friendlies

How much are we charging for the games ?

I'll do a bucket collection with Anthony on the 3g pitch if needed.

I'll do some fixture posters once I get the admission prices...

Re: Pre-season friendlies

Hi! Harry, and of course the Little man.

According to my season ticket renewal the prices are as follows.

Godalming and Guildford, 3g pitch, free entry.

Barnet, Crystal Palace, Dulwich, main pitch, £5.00 / £3.00

Manchester United, only joking!

Re: Pre-season friendlies

I knew I would be able to count on you guy`s.

I can not believe I might have to miss the Dulwich game, shame because they bought a good crowd, and an improvement in the atmosphere for that night game last year.

Can anybody remember the result, my brain hurts.

Re: Pre-season friendlies

Ben Osman is the son of former Ipswich Town and England centre back Russell Osman,he is a midfielder who most recently played for Hampton & Richmond. I think the lad Merson has had addiction problems with alcohol, drugs and gambling but I might be getting him mixed up with somebody else "Merson?, Merson ?"

Re: Pre-season friendlies

Don't think there is any time scale for signing forms etc.  I presume you can sign right up to the day before.  As for the players on show, they all looked comfortable on the ball and after one viewing, you wouldn't think any of them would be out of place in our league.  Probably difficult to tell if they will be up to the physical demands as this friendly was against an U21 side and some of them looked even younger than that!

Re: Pre-season friendlies

Having criticised people in the past for phrases such as "there were up to 100 people or more at the meeting" I have to accept my own faux pas.

But some of them looked like schoolboys, while I'm sure I saw the linesman on our side take his half time milk out of a bot-bot.
