T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

Well that was certainly entertaining. Ref ruined it as a fair contest though. So out of his depth it was embarrassing.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

I agree the ref could have been better, but at our level he is not unique.
Perhaps we should look closer to home, what was Ashley doing sitting on the bench, he was certainly not injured, and I am sorry I do not like to single players out but Ollie was so out of his depth, but it took to half time before he was changed, but still no Robinson who has so much to offer, their right back did not like pace  coming at him, that was obvious within the first fifteen minutes, what do we do, wait until approximately ten minutes or so from the end before bringing on Taurean and as soon as he came on he took on two defenders turning them inside out before getting in a good cross, this was repeated several times before the final whistle, had he been bought on earlier we might not have been on the end of a four two defeat, surely the management should have noticed this weakness  and made the change sooner.
Apart from Billy Dunn`s goal what else did he contribute, for my money the one player who was head and shoulders above everybody else, and I include the poor opposition players, was Chace he was pulling all the strings in the middle and certainly deserved his goal, I hope he was man of the match as he certainly deserved it.

This was another of those games best consigned to the bin as it was one that we certainly should have won.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

Agree that Taureen perhaps could have played a bigger role today, caused lots of problems when introduced.

Disagree that somehow Ashley Robinson was the answer to our problems.

I personally believe that the wonderful run of form of Eddie dines is keeping robbo out of the team, and rightly so, Eddie deserves a huge amount of praise and has been excellent across a number of games, including tonight where he was arguably our best player breaking up opposition play and distributing well when in position.

Ollie struggled today but I think it was a different role to what he is used to. Still very happy to have him growing in and around our team and he deserves it - very young and very talented.

Chace excellent first half but not as influential second. Still an incredible addition to this years squad and so good have him back. His Twitter says "feels good to be home" and oh my what a pleasure to have him back home. Absolutely delighted he is back with us.

Their first goal blew the wind out of our sales. Poor for Adriano to give away a silly foul but sorry whar the hell was matte Pierson doing with the resultant free kick??? He looked like he thought it was going wide so he left it but it ended up in the net....no way he couldn't have saved that. Unacceptable.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

The point I was making dac, was not that Ashley was the answer, but I could not, and never do understand how Ollie can be considered better than him, his passing, his shooting, and not withstanding his long throws, a tool which I feel we do not use to it`s best advantage, are better employed on the pitch than on the bench.
At the end of the day we lost to a team who, yes were a level above us, but when it came to on the pitch, were no better.
For me a better team selection from the management and we would not be sitting indoors now feeling cheated and dejected.
But looking on the positive, we are still champions of LONDON, and we can look forward to defending that trophy.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

Alan, I agree with your comments. Regarding Ashley, I heard that he is either going to a wedding or going on holiday & that is why he was not selected to play & only on the bench. Its ok if your name is you know who.. With the case of Ollie, you have to have some sympathy for him as he was put in a position higher up the pitch, a position he is not used to. Thats were Scott Day would have been useful for us in this game.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

I'm disappointed to get get beaten yestaday. When we scored first I had good feeling about the match.I think Frank tried a few new things out.No wingers to start.Dunstables equilizer knocked the stuffing out of us a bit.Think Matt will feel he should have saved the free kick.Ollie is young and will get better.Taurean played well when he did come on,and I hope that's him back to his best.He has looked bit out of sorts lately.I thought Dixon did well when he came on as well.Looked strong and sharp.Does he deserve a start on Tuesday??Right back seams a problem this season.A few players have been tried there.Im guessing Sol will move back to the middle, and put Callum Wilson at right back.Bring on the league!!

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

He is going away on a ten day holiday next week Geoff, but I can not understand why that should have a negative effect upon his playing yesterday, when he returns yes, having had ten days enjoying good food and wine, but Saturday? makes no sense to me.
Unfortunately I never got to see Scott Day in a Tooting shirt for a full game, but from what you have said previously he could have made a difference.
Like Casey I felt Dixon done well when he came on, he was strong, could shield and hold the ball well and caused there defenders problems, he certainly is worth a start assuming his fitness is up to it.
I agree Ollie is young and I do not like commenting upon him in a negative way but I feel he is too lightweight and gets pushed off the ball to easily, you can not deny his work rate is good and hopefully he will get better, and stronger but I feel now is too soon for him.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

I thought that Eddie Dines played a blinder yesterday and that Dixon really got stuck into their massive No.6 who was stopping everybody (in one way or another) when he came on.  I felt sorry for Ollie who did not look comfortable in his starting position.  I think that Claudio or Taurean would have been a better starting option.

Due to  the lack of our local Newspaper coverage, the attached link to the Dunstable Town Website gives a great write up on the game.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

From where I was stood, I thought we could have had not one but two penalties awarded before they broke away and scored their second. I'm not the only one either

I did have the consolation of winning the Golden Goal (again).

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

From my view (in the multi-media suite) the foul on Dixon was in the D but not in the box.  The ref attempted to play advantage but there was none, so should have given the free kick instead.  The red mist had already descended so I didn't get a clear view of the 2nd incident.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

Allowing for the fact I'm biased, I thought the second foul on Bassett (I think) was in the box but in fairness my view was clouded by the steam coming out of my ears.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

I did something similar several years ago.  My Sunday team were at home and therefore obliged to provide a ref, but he didn't turn up.  So I volunteered to do it.  I got so much verbal from my own team mates (despite awarding them a questionable penalty) that I just walked off and drove home.  And took the whistle with me.

Re: T&M 2 Dunstable Town 4

School boy error Endo.
If anybody is going to leave the pitch it should never be the referee. Only one person in the 23 has a whistle.  But I'd never ref footie anyway.

Very much encouraged by a physically powerful display by Dixon.
Danny B is unpopular with some because he tries to finish in a controlled fashion.
Until now Dixon seems to feel the need to blast every chance, resulting in less control. But with a couple of loan spell goals under his belt.....

I'm a bit concerned that, even with changing personnel, we had established a style of play with two wide players that was exciting, creating lots of chances and fairly successful.
But with the arrival of Chase (who I make clear again I hold in high regard for his skill level) much more of the play is through the middle where it is perhaps easier to break moves down.
