A well-deserved win against a decent Whyteleafe side. Lots of effort through the team, with Cunningham making an excellent debut. Goals from Wilson and Dixon, with
Whyteleafe's late consolation probably just about merited. Petty officiating ruined the match as a spectacle, though, and left both sides frustrated. Where on earth do they get these referees from ?

Great all round performance. Was nice to see the management get someone up closer to Mike Dixon...which was Sandy who had a good home debut. Linked up well with Dixon.
I thought our right back did excellently as well on his home debut.
My man of the match goes to Kyle Merson. Thought he was outstanding. Good catching, good kicking and made a couple of good saves when he was needed. Very composed performance and took the pressure off the back 4 by catching and punching exceptionally well.
Noticed jamie Byatt and one of the Corinthian casuals management there today ahead of Monday's tie.

I'd like to add that I thought Sol was outstanding today. I can be known to criticise him a little because I actually think he is a great defender but suffers from occasional lapses in discipline and concentration, but today he did everything perfectly and was outstanding (as was Quincey).

Today was abit better team performance with more fluid rhythm to our attacks . We stifled whyteleafe as a attacking force forcing them on the back foot .
Cunningham new signing showed glimpses of magic but it was Whyteleafe captain who I spoke to after game John Scarborough who was polite honest in saying he couldn't see Terrors holding onto their play off spot as we don't have any magic moments from players who can change game in one moment .. he said chace O'Neil was average today and he added Hastings were the team on the up coming up the rails . I hope our recent mini slump has gone and the return of magic winning moments from once upon a time. I believe that there is a couple of irons in the fire for new players !!!

I wouldn't take too much notice of comments made by the oppositions losing captain. We're grinding results out while we're we're not looking particularly convincing at the moment, and good sides can do that. We certainly do have several players that can produce magic to get you results. O'Neil on Boxing Day for a start, Robinson, Wilson and Roberts can all produce something that can get you something out of a game. They might not have produced that much yesterday but we still beat Whyteleafe and are second in the table for a reason. Anything more than a loss against Casuals tomorrow and I think the Christmas/New Year programme can be seen as a success, considering our earlier December results.
I agree with dac about Merson in goal, he has been excellent since he came in and Frank has a decision to make when Pierson is back fit. Kyle has done enough to keep his place I think.
I'm not normally a ref basher but yesterdays ref and his 2 assistants were woefull, probably the worst we,ve seen this season. If Mike Dean in the Prem is a Spurs fan, then yesterdays officials must be Whyteleafe season ticket holders, as they seemed to try their very best to get leafe back in the game.
See you tomorrow.

Er, no. The referee overruled his linesman when he flagged for a throw-in. The ref had awarded a corner before noticing the lino's flag had been raised. As he had he already awarded the corner he decided he would disregard the information provided to him by his assistant. Seconds later you were 2-0 up.
That said, our goal was all wrong as the ball should have been a goal kick and not a corner. Both the lino and the ref got that one wrong!
There was an assessor/observer there too.

A clear indication of the officials trying to get Leafe back into the game if ever there was one
With impeccable timing Mike Dean has just been announced as referee for the Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup tie this Sunday. I'm more worried about tonight's game between Spurs and Chelsea, the ref is Sir Alan Sugar and his assistants are Chas & Dave gulp !
