Bryan Nicholson

Our groundsman is leaving us on April 10th to pursue a new career working at St Helier hospital. Bryan (not Brian) isn't going to be a brayn (or brain) surgeon, he's going to be doing patient transfers.

Thanks for all your excellent work at Imperial Fields over the years Bryan, not just the state of the main pitch which has had about a squillion games played on it this season but everything from cooking jerk chicken pasta in The Shack, opening the bar, inflating bouncy castles etc, etc. etc.

Great effort, well done my fellow Jock.

Re: Bryan Nicholson

He'll be a hard act to follow.  I think we had a game postponed this season, but I don't think we had a game called off from the pitch conditions for at least the previous couple of years.

Is this the opening that Bondy has been angling for for the last few months???

Re: Bryan Nicholson

Paving the way for 3G next season? Or am I being cynical? Anyway top work Bryan 👍

Re: Bryan Nicholson

Until it reaches a point where it becomes a financial or logistical burden we should play on grass. Call me a dinosaur.

Re: Bryan Nicholson

New to the forum but have been reading for a couple of years.  I joined to mention that I tend to agree with 59's comments about 3g.  I don't know too much about the CAFC pitch but can confirm that Sutton's is well maintained and regularly watered, whilst the 3g at Whyteleafe had problems from day one, and is not well maintained or watered.

Re: Bryan Nicholson

I am against plastic pitches.  But then again, I was opposed to the introduction of the Spinning Jenny, until I realised that it would bring the cost of a nice new archery tabard down to less than 2 groats.  Now I think they're great.

Re: Bryan Nicholson

We have a 3G pitch at Harrogate Town this season which doesn't seem to have made much difference one way or the other to the quality of the football. The big concern is that we seem to have had more injuries, some very serious, than in recent grass seasons. I haven't seen any feedback on whether other clubs have had similar problems.

Re: Bryan Nicholson

The players say 3G definitely causes more attritional injuries, such as back and bone issues.  Not sure why

Not to worry, 20,000 years from now modern technology will have come up with an instant remedy

Prevention is better than cure so we could just keep playing on grass I suppose and rename the KNK 'Jurassic Park'

Re: Bryan Nicholson

You surprise me 59er, I'd have thought you would've wanted to change the name from Imperial Fields to Metric Metropolis..
