FA CUP LOSS - STEFAN'S POINGNANT VIEW

Loyal fan Stefan vents his disappointed views on Tuesday's defeat

Firstly, I want to remind everyone Tuesday's (call it what you will)
was the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup. And what did we do …. we lost again.
Not for the 1st, 2d, or 3rd time in recent years but for more recent years than I can remember,
and under the current management of JB and company.

It’s pathetic that when you have a team of players, that you can’t install the importance of
winning this trophy, what it means to the player, the club, and the supporters, let alone the
management of Tooting & Mitcham Utd.

The player – a platform for them to get noticed on the bigger stage and a chance of them being
seen on TV in future rounds.

The disappointment to the supporter (me) who would have like to see us progressing to the next round.

The club – Where much needed revenue would have been appreciated by Chairman/Owner and
the club itself.

But let’s not forget - The player management. Did they want it badly enough before the match kicked off –
The answer – No

Did Petts Wood & Holmesdale wanted it more than us. The answer – Yes

Therefore, should the managers position come into question – Yes, because alongside with his assistant managers,
they pick the players, they chose the side, and more importantly, they should get it right, time and time again.

But they didn’t over the last two legs, and we lost to a good side who used wingers and a very good No.9 who
took his opportunities when they came. We didn’t, and we did have them, so I ask, are our players good enough
to 1. Defend, as we did last year. 2. or Score goals. We’ll, the answer is clearly No.  So, something needs to change,

as from today, and let’s not defend the players from Tuesday's, we were simply not good enough
apart from a spell in the second half which Max Oldham showed the way forward, with some inspired play.
But we can’t rely on one player – we need a team of 11, who feel as passionate as I, who want this club to succeed
on the pitch, playing to a standard that Tooting & Mitcham should be playing too.

For those who can remember Billy & George played with a small, but regular squad of players, with little
change, as they were carefully individually selected. They were exciting times and they wanted to play.

PW & H came to us as they wanted to beat us on our home turf, because we are T&M Utd, and they did, perhaps
why our home form is bad as it is because other teams feel the same.

So, something needs to change and quickly, if we are going to put this defeat behind us and move on.

The supporters know what’s needed but do management. The jury is out, but never believe that as a manager your
Job is safe, because no job is safe unless you’re producing what is expected of you, and in football – results,
with a team that believes in each other, as good as each other, and confident within their own abilities to produce
what’s expected of them, and a little more besides, for the league they are playing in.

The truth often hurts. And maybe it could be the catalyst for change to happen. We’ll see.
