Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

Welford own goal in 93 mins for 1-2.
And the the same player scores the equaliser on 94 mins!!!!!

Only Tooting could manage that

Typical of the team, they thought they have won the the game with that late goal & probably switched off.

What type of bullsh*t is scoring a winner in the 93rd min and still losing? FFS

Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

I yelled out in jubilation when the vidiprinter displayed our second goal!!!! I thought that MUST be it!!! But then I realised that this is Tooting playing away in Kent!!! We seldom win there. And that dreaded goal conceded beyond injury time duly arrived!!!

Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

Overall a fair result, neither team worked the respective keepers that hard.
Their second goal came from? guess what, a set piece, when will we learn to defend them, until we get a commanding centre half this will always be our achilles heel . I would love to see the stats for goals conceded, set pieces would be at the top I am sure.
But the lads deserved the hard earned point, with the first goal coming from a lovely ball from Newton in the centre circle out to the left to Sol for him to run toward the byline and whip in a heck of a ball for Dan to finish, text book stuff, and worth the trip just for that.

Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

Thanks Alan for the views of somebody who was actually there.

The interim report on the Hythe Town site is making much of the referee not awarding Gonzales either a red card, a yellow card or both!
Can you, or any of the other zebra clad faithful in attendance, shed any light on that please?

I could not make today but do plan the slog down to darkest Kent on Tuesday.
Even with Fretters observation about our success rate in the region.

Most long serving Tooting fans will tell you that, unless we are at least 3 goals ahead with a minute to go, we are not guaranteed the points !!!

Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

I agree with 59's appraisal of the quality of our defence compaired to those teams around us:  it is acually beter than most of the rest.  What concerns me more is not the set piece situation, but the number of times that we have conceded because we have "switched off" with an oppo player suddenly finding himself in miles of space with time to get a cuppa from Billy and Geoff before picking his spot at the back of net.  The CWD goal in the resent Casuals' match was a prime example of a number of goals that have been scored against us this season. Fix this and we will be able to dominate next season.

I'm pretty certain the ref did show Lewis a yellow card. What happened was a through ball was played along the deck behind our back four, their centre forward ran onto it and controlled it well running diagonally behind and across Lewis who couldn't really get out of his way and clipped the strikers heels sending him crashing to earth about 30 yards from goal. The only person in the world who knows whether it was deliberate is Lewis himself. I have to admit at the time my heart was in my mouth, I thought he was a goner but the ref gave him the benefit of the doubt. In the second half Lewis gave away another free kick just outside our box and escaped another yellow card but Craig sensibly substituted him to save us going down to ten men.

As for the late drama.....Welford's own goal sparked a one man ( I use the term loosely ) pitch invasion from the Bog End away firm before Welford himself poked home from about 2 feet after a melee in the goalmouth. Despite our vulnerability at set pieces Hythe's first goal came from a corner kick that blatantly came off their player last and should have been a goal kick to us

P.S. It was absolutely frigging freezing down there on Saturday

Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

Our defence is a bit of an odd one.  Whilst we regularly concede 2 per game, we have only been tonked for 4 or more twice.

Re: YEEEEEEEEEES 93RD MIN 1-2

It depends on one's expectations as a supporter.  If you are happy mid-table then we are doing ok.  But if you are looking to the top five then we have to attain a GD 15 goals better than what we have now.  Score more and concede less.  If this is not addressed we will be mid-table again next season.
