Anyone remember Glossopade ? Put a few posts on the Forum a while back. Glossop North End supporter. Well since he came on here I've been looking out for their results and on Saturday they reached the final of the FA Vase by beating St Austell 2-1 on aggregate. If you read this Glossy congratulations mate and enjoy your day out at the final, hope you beat North Shields and lift the trophy.
Talking of cup finals.....I was speaking to my mate Pottsy at the game on Saturday ( he's an Arsenal fan, he's alright though, not like the rest of 'em ) and he told me that the first trophy Arsenal ever won was the London Senior Cup when they were still known as Royal Arsenal. Not being rude but until they flukily beat Hull at Wembley last season you could be forgiven for thinking it was the LAST trophy they ever won.

Thankyou Harry.
At Saturday's game another mate of ours ' Kaiser ' ( Chelsea fan and all round Top Bloke, needless to say ) asked Pottsy how many times Arsenal had won the FA Cup, 12 Pottsy replied......No, it's 11 said Kaiser....Sorry, Pottsy said, I was counting this season.
Glossopade, I presume you will be coming down to Wembley for the Vase Final. Can you tell your mates when you go to the pub before the match not to go looking for the toilet at the end of the Beer Garden as all of the establishments in London have indoor loos. You will also be pleased to learn the vast majority of these Karsies boast soft 2-ply Andrex toilet paper in a variety of pastille shade colours including pink, orange and yellow, not like the coarse, shiny prison issue Bog Rolls that are common up your way. If you do want a taste of home while on your short stay in our Capital City you could try one of the council estate boozers in the East End of Town that still serve pickled eggs and packets of Pork Scratchings.
Tooting & Mitcham London Senior Cup and Glossop North End FA Vase.... that would be a nice cup double

Tragically Adrian Priestly aka 'Glossopade' lost his battle with cancer the December before last, I knew him through an on line game, he seemed like a great bloke. I hope Glossop can do it in his memory, they seem like a very well run club that can find success without paying out big money.

Sad - I really hope Glossop win it for him.

That's terribly sad. Thanks very much for letting us know Steve. Like Maarlon says, I really hope North End win the Vase in his memory. We exchanged a few posts on this forum and he had a good sense of humour.
RIP Glossy North End for the Cup !

Just thouht I would add a little about the reference to Arsenal Football Club I am not a supporter but an admirer. They are a great club and have maintained this over the years, stacked with history and respect in the English game. They run a well run financiual operation the envy of many clubs. They have helped the Terrors is the past as follows:-
1. The provided training facilities located at the behind the old clock end terracing for the Nottingham Forest game. The weather conditions were so severe but Arsenal came to the rescue for the Terrors.
2. They provided HIghbury for the final of the London Senior Cup which was attended by a huge crowd.
3. They sent a team along to celebrate the switching on of our first floodlights at Sandy Lane.
However I know this comp[letely meaningless to those who do not want to remember the past!

So it's all their fault then ! They provided a warm indoor environment with a perfect playing surface and as a consequence our lads weren't able to adapt to the treacherous wintery, icy, frozen conditions they encountered on the day and thanks to Arsenal we surrendered a two goal lead due to our heroes being unable to acclimatise
So, after all these years we find out we weren't robbed after all ! We were stabbed in the back Now the truth is out we're going to have to change the words to our ''We were robbed in 59'' song, 59er will have to change his user name and the 'Gooners' amongst the 'Bog End Army' will have to hang their treasonous heads in shame.
I reckon we'd have gone on to lift the FA Cup that year too.
