I went to the very first FA Vase final when Hoddesdon Town won 2-1 against Epsom and Ewell. As far as I can remember (correct me if I am wrong) there hasn't been another Surrey team in the final until now, Banstead played Whitby in a semi-final; in the home leg Banstead,s star striker scored an own goal in the first five minutes which was the only goal of the game. At Whitby  Banstead held a 1-0 lead for much of the match but conceded in the last minute and Whitby went on to win at Wembley.
