The Barmy Bog End Army » SURREY SENIOR CUP » 10/1/2018 10:37 am |
Oh dear Alan. Not sure why you missed this one.
As you know I get castigated by DeePee for only occasionally buying a programme but this match has been on my 2018 calendar for some time. And the crowd of 77 was at least half the usual suspects from the zebra clad faithful - if not higher.
Yes, apart from game time for Jake, Ollie and the returning SPB it was our U23 side.
That will allow Frank two full training sessions with the 1st team squad this week ahead of some crucial matches.
More useful ‘Men against Boys’ experience for our youngsters too.
Personally, I thought it was very noticeable how much Tope has benefitted from his recent games in the 1st team.
A few struggled at times with the step up and possession was given away a bit carelessly on occasions but they grew in to the game and by the then end were flying in to challenges.
I agree it is a shame we have not gone on in the competition but it is a juggling of priorities.
The Barmy Bog End Army » RELEGATION BATTLE » 09/1/2018 4:11 pm |
With 19 games still to go, which is only just less than half the season, I don’t intend to start calculating how we might NOT stay in the division. Sorry Mike, I just don’t see the point.
But it has recently become clear that you look at things very differently to many/most.
Look at everything that has already happened this season.
Players in, players out, injuries, last minute goals. Lots more adventures for us to ‘enjoy’ yet.
Live the dream.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Bondy » 06/1/2018 2:56 pm |
You see Mike, I was right, I am not in your gang.
I am absolutely delighted to learn that you really do enjoy watching your team. And that you are one of those who cheer them on.
The club can't afford to lose a single supporter. And certainly not one who is committed enough to make such long return trips.
Let's hope for a good performance and 3 points in the crucial game today.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Harlow » 06/1/2018 12:48 am |
Not going.
No trains from Mitcham Junction AGAIN this weekend and whilst getting in to London is the easy bit leaving at 11.30 is ridiculous. It is only Harlow in Essex, not half way up the country.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Tooting are Pathetic » 06/1/2018 12:43 am |
Oh dear Mike.
Firstly to your match report on the Leatherhead game.
Quite right, blooming miserable performance to watch. And it was cold.
Without Mike D, Dom, Dines etc we looked toothless against a bunch of large and knarly, experienced old pros.
We got rid of Cummingham but the return of Baxter again places the emphasis on delivery to the front. Lumping the ball up to him will just not work.
I understand Omar has not been completely well for some weeks, hence his limited game time.
Dan is only a little lad but to me (and I was very, very close) he went in to a 50/50 challenge half heartedly and suffered the consequences. Obviously I wish him well as you do. Good player. Nice lad. Scores good goals.
What you will have surely gathered from the postings above of our little gang (I assume you consider me a prize member) is that they/we actually enjoy the many and varied twists and turns of supporting a non league side.
Being depressed most of the time, and sharing that depression with a bunch of like minded lunatics, is actually part of the fun. And it makes those occasions when you do have a bit of success (a cup run, an away victory, avoiding relegation or, glory be, a promotion!) all that more enjoyable.
And certainly far, far better than being herded from a station under police protection to be corralled together to watch a Premier League game at huge expense.
Or not being able to afford a ticket to see your team and basing your footie spouting on multiple MOTD replays. Plenty of those about eh.
Of course your gang on the dark and gloomy side are fully entitled to pay their money and then post on here what they like.
But what our gang don’t understand is: If you are committed enough to follow your team but you never, ever seem to actually enjoy it then.......why bother? Simply stop coming and be happy.
‘But T&M is my club’ I hear you say in high dudgeon.
Well then just get on and support your team, cheer them on loudly at every game you attend

I’m also sadly missing the game today and Dullwits on Boxing Day.
Just paid £6.70 to enter Wales! Tried to explain that we only wanted to stay for a few days, not buy the country, but got no joy.
Merry Xmas to all the zebra clad and will be eagerly looking out for some more points.
The Barmy Bog End Army » New / Rearranged Fixtures » 18/12/2017 1:36 am |
I see the Bostik web site has us playing Chipstead away in the Surrey cup on 9th Jan.
Then they have got really clever and scheduled both our rearranged away game v Dorking AND the London cup away game against Plod on Tuesday 30th Jan.
Also the rearranged away game against Wingate is now shown as Tuesday 6th Feb.
Tim and/or Andy will make all crystal clear to us in due course I’m sure.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Thurrock » 16/12/2017 12:06 pm |
According to Official TMFC no pitch inspection planne£ and game is on.
Hooray!!!! Footie again.
And we have a new player. A winger!!!
(Steady Bondy. Keep your powder dry. Still 3 hours to go)
Come on you Stripes
The Barmy Bog End Army » WORTHING » 12/12/2017 11:45 pm |
I think I read a few weeks ago that they had picked up players from their seaside neighbours Brighton and Bognor.
Oh well, they are not the only team down at the sticky end with us and, as Worthing are proving, it does not take many wins to lift yourselves.
We just have to get behind the team to ensure it is us that rises like the proverbial Phoenix.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Dear Santa » 02/12/2017 7:41 pm |
Can I have a bung for my half full glass please Santa. It seems to have sprung a leak and is draining away.
That was really quite poor.
My overriding concern is how long it took the team to simply pass the ball between them a few times.
I was not looking for anything too complicated. Just receive the ball, control it, move away from the opponent and pass it on to a teammate, hopefully someone showing a degree of attacking intent.
To achieve that took until nearly the end of the 1st half.
Instead we saw the ball simply lumped forward or a player would opt to run with it - and then lose it.
Still, we lost by 3 goals to a very good side. Err, no. As poor as we were they looked decidedly average throughout the 1st half until sufficiently encouraged by our mediocrity to simply jump for the ball at two corners.
If some of the budget has been freed by the recent departures then we will need to shop wisely.
But who would want to join us at the moment? Surely not a player in the starting 11 of a team above us in the division. And that is the level of player all supporters are looking for.
Ho Hum.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Aaron Goode » 01/12/2017 8:04 pm |
As silky as Aaron looked I got the impression from him that he is not fully fit at the moment.
And we all know Frank is happier with his team playing an energetic pressing game.
Even with Jordan and Ollie released a few weeks ago the squad looked on the large side once players returned from injury/suspension.
Sad as it is to see players go some of those released would surely have been on the higher salary scale.
And that will release funds for Frank to bring in some quality to plug any gaps.
Don’t forget Callum and Jeuven are still out and Dan has been unwell.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Lieston 2-0 Terrors » 27/11/2017 10:13 am |
I can be accused of being too positive, looking at things through rose tinted specs etc.
Yes, I know, what sort of attitude is that to have in life eh.
However I believe the majority of zebra clad who attended the game agreed that we not only matched them but dominated the game for lengthy periods.
(And that without Omar, Callum and Jeuven)
It would be wrong of me to suggest the lads created a mass of good chances. I agree with Alan that the final ball often left a bit t9 be desired. But it was hugely unfortunate that their first goal, coming from a misjudgement while playing the ball out of defence, came at the end of probably our strongest period when we had them under real and sustained pressure.
And had that chance from Dom gone in.........
Well that is perhaps how things go when you are bottom 5 and not top 5. (Opps, there I go again)
Plenty to be positive about and solid displays from the two youngsters given their chance.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Unbelievable C**P » 22/11/2017 11:13 pm |
I agree with you Alan and Eve.
How can anyone who would make claims to be a true supporter really think relegation for their side could be beneficial when:
a) it was such a long journey to get (back) up to the Premier Division
b) the standard of the bottom half of Bostik South is so poor
c) the top half of the Bostik South Division is so competitive and promotion so difficult.
Many of the posters are keen to highlight how poor the standard of the team. And the good win against top 10 side K’s has been quickly forgotten.
Whilst a bottomless budget would be great recruitment has brought a bigger squad and competition in most positions.h
And whilst it has been acknowledged that Kevin still lacks full match fitness having completed only two games no one has mentioned that we lost Callum, our most competitive and consistent central defender in recent weeks, to concussion in the warm up. The equally consistent Eddie Dines is still recovering from injury, as is Jeuven Spencer. (And Ollie Bennett was unwell)
So that was 3 of the 1st team regular starters missing!!!!
Would any side not find that a problem?
However I certainly do agree the lack of communication leading to the first goal was poor. And whilst our punts up field yielded little reward a similar simple ball down the inside left channel completely unlocked us. And who might have been responsible.
But I thought the ref was not just soft but negligent in the amount of holding and grappling he allowed the Gate central defenders to get away with all night.
Yes Mike and Omar are not exactly waifs but they found it almost impossible to break free.
Keep the faith.
The Barmy Bog End Army » ANDY HARRUP » 22/11/2017 10:36 pm |
No draught beer in the club bar last night. And all the bottled stuff ran out very quickly as well.
And that was after I complemented them on the beer supplied on Saturday and was assured another barrel was being delivered for Tuesday.
Shame with two consecutive home games.
Now that really is something to moan about!
The Barmy Bog End Army » Leiston away » 17/11/2017 6:30 pm |
Now don’t nag me Dee Pee because I am sure info is all in your excellent programme but......any travel plans from the club for this one next weekend?
It seems to be a considerable distance from any station. Perhaps I should leave now.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Paul Dale » 17/11/2017 6:25 pm |
Thank you HH (and Andy).
Hopefully that will put an end to the usual doom & gloom, scaremongering postings that are never intended to be so, but always are.
Once again, I only wish him well.
I’ve never managed to spot Where’s Wally however I can confirm seeing Chris Nurse at two recent games, both in the stand and in the bar afterwards. And I directed a friend/family member to his location.
So he is even boosting the attendance!
Don’t forget Bogenders, only two coaches can stand out on the touch line. Unless of course you are Bill & Dicky in which case you think you have an unrestricted entitlement.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Paul Dale » 15/11/2017 12:50 am |
Well that really is a great loss to the club.
As a supporter who prefers to stand close to the dugouts I have perhaps had a better view than the Bog Enders of the impact Paul has had on our levels of organisation over these two seasons.
And the impact his tactical changes and passion have had during games.
However I of course wish him every success in his next venture as a No 1.
Why the mystery over where he is going? The announcement on Official TMFC is also clouded.
Surely it willl come out anyway.
The Barmy Bog End Army » FOLKESTONE INVICTA 3 - TOOTING 1 » 11/11/2017 11:58 pm |
Sorry Alan but I agree with Dac. I thought we were pretty poor.
The goal well finished off by Danny was a fine move where we allowed the movement of the ball to outwit and outflank the oppo. The rest of the game our passing game was distinctly average but that goal should have been enough to show the way to beat them. Not so.
And despite a considerable list to chose from I think the first goal we conceded was the worst so far this season. Neither central defender even remotely in contact with the single striker who converted.
Shocking.
And they cut us apart time after time breaking forward quickly.
Pick up and mark the players in yellow. Pass the ball to the players in purple. Simpleski?
We were unlucky to lose at home but we were very, very fortunate to be level at half time.
The first period of the 2nd half showed some encouraging improvement. But, rather like Tuesday, our ability to find teammates was decidedly limited. Running with the ball and losing it proved much easier.
The exception was the great chance created for Sandy where the ball was played behind the defenders directly in to his path. One touch and slide the ball home? Ah.........shame.
A nice surprise was finding that, when the ref brandished a yellow and then a red, it was not to Sol for contesting the possible off side for their 3rd goal but to one of their lot, presumably for verbals. Very odd. All seemed mystified.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Dodgy Dulwits - again ! » 06/11/2017 5:20 pm |
They are missing a trick by not opening a match day crèche. Profit to be had there.
Meadow seem to be property developers. So what they wanted to do on the very desirable Dog Dirt Hill was surely..........build property!
Football? Who cares?
The Barmy Bog End Army » Tonbridge Away » 20/10/2017 12:48 am |
Sorry Boggie but my high volume vocal support from the sidelines will again be missing this week.
My lame excuse? Mummy Bondy’s 90th birthday celebrations with a 3 line whip on timely attendance.
Had it been a home game she could have trotted out as a zebra clad mascot.
I was at that 2011 game. What a cracker. And what a keeper Jamie Butler was for us.
However must admit I am struggling to remember too much about Terry Dixon.
Good luck lads.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Brightlingsea 0 Tooting 3 » 14/10/2017 10:26 pm |
Sadly I (also) missed this game as Mrs Bondy grabbed our passports and dragged us ‘op North’ for the weekend.
Raced back from a long (long) coastal walk to catch the fine result.
Could not be more pleased for the squad and management.
I posted on here a short while ago that Mike scored his first goal last season on the 1st Nov.
So he is actually ahead of schedule and we can hopefully expect sparks to fly from this dancing feet.
I note the different defensive formation with Quincy (and Eddie) restored.
Look forward to some more postings from the faithful on that - and going forward.
The Barmy Bog End Army » TMUFC 4-3 WORTHING » 08/10/2017 12:31 am |
Not surprisingly given our positions in the table and the importance of this game both teams looked extremely nervous and wary of making mistakes.
It was great to score the first goal which settled things down. But then we still conceded two soft goals.
Not sure why Quincey was judged to be the one who had to make way after the capitulation on Tuesday. Not my candidate for sure.
Playing with Mike and Omar being strong and determined up front we had to get the ball in the box a lot more. And we settled in to a pattern of doing that which worked well.
Win the ball at the back or in midfield. Quickly get it out wide and press them down the flanks.
But...we still had players dwelling on the ball too long and losing possession. Thankfully not Dominic who led by example in keeping things simple through a very impressive 2nd half.
And when a break came in the game who was it going round making sure all the boys were singing from the same songsheet? The senior players? Our illustrious leader? That was Dom too.
Oh how we desperately need a right back. And one that will not get injured the moment he arrives!
What a relief. Onward and upward.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Staines » 03/10/2017 11:14 pm |
Now this will perhaps come as something of a surprise to many as I have been a strong critic on occasions in the past but.....I am going to praise the Waldorf & Stadler section in the stand.
They could quite easily have ripped in noisily to any number of our players as tonight’s performance fell apart in such a shambolic way.
However they, like the rest of us, simply watched their team playing without an ounce of confidence in shocked silence, perhaps in the realisation that any vocal vitriol was simply a waste of time.
When our most consistent week in week out rock is reduced to perhaps being the weakest link that reflects how far the fragile team morale has descended. Very sad.
And without Matte P the score could have been...........who knows?
We at least managed to keep 11 players on the pitch tonight.
And that, in keeping with a number of pre match postings on this forum, allowed the team to set out in a much more attack minded formation with players up in support of Mike D.
What happened after that was a horrible embarrassment.
The Barmy Bog End Army » Home v Folkestone » 23/9/2017 8:05 am |
I know this has probably been posted somewhere and I have missed it.
And it would certainly have been included in DeePee's excellent programmes.
However........just in case anyone (else) has missed this......our game against Folkestone scheduled for Tuesday appears to be off as they still involved in the league cup.
