Herne Bay Away

There was a very complimentary comment in the programme yesterday, it said " After the recent meeting between the two teams at the KNK, everyone concerned with Herne Bay agreed that Tooting were the best team we had played this season." They were particularly impressed with our passing game that day.

They wouldn't have been quite so impressed yesterday, although we were already on top before their bloke got sent off for the attempted murder of Adriano, we huffed and puffed without really opening them up. The back four was rock solid again ensuring Sheik had a reasonably quiet afternoon.

Bill (Waldorf)Carmody made a valid point yesterday ( For the first time in his life I might add ) when he said that Herne Bay 3 weeks ago would've been targetting 6 points from the 2 games against us and can consider themselves lucky that they got ANY.

I'll give the Cheeseburger a slightly generous 4 out of 10 on the strength of the bun being very nice.

Re: Herne Bay Away

Had we been offered a point before the game, then I am sure that most of us would have been happy with that, but after twenty minutes when their man got sent off, and even the most die hard Bay supporter would not disagree with the decision, apart from a thumping header against the post from Simmo we were very lack lustre up front, and the possibility of three points disappeared I would wonder if their goalkeeper has had many easier afternoons. Not once did we force him into a save, our corners were not contested by us, making it easy for the keeper to claim or a defender to clear, our shooting, if it could be called that, not only lacked power  but also direction.
No, at the end of the day, a point is all we deserved, and that was for effort, the Bay defence coped with everything in a very capable way, and credit has to be given to them.
One thing which did not help either side to play a passing game, was the condition of the pitch, very sandy, and once the game started it cut up very easily.
At the end of the day considering our position and the oppositions, two points from six is very commendable, but if only!

Re: Herne Bay Away

Probably a fair reflection of the day's events Alan/Bog End - much the same thoughts that went into the match report on the official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OfficialTMUFC/

But Bog End - 4 out of 10 for the Burger? Are you sure? 2 for the bun and one for the cheese, making it a max of 3 in my book!

Re: Herne Bay Away

As I said Tim, " A slightly generous 4 out of 10 " I awarded a bonus point for the fried onions. I think we all agree the burger itself scored a big fat ZERO.

Mind you, we've still got to go to Worthing with their puke-inducing spewburgers

I can definitely vouch for that comment - mind you they were marginally quicker in production than anything purchased at Whyteleafe !

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left !
