London Senior Cup

According to the London FA web site we beat the Dullwits 3-0 tonight (a nasty bout of flu sadly forced me to miss the game)

Fantastic.  Look forward to some detail on that victory.

Again, according to the web site, the final is on Wednesday 4th May after even the Ryman play offs have taken place.
Not to put a spoiler on things but I wonder how many of our players have already arranged holidays at that time.

Re: London Senior Cup

A really excellent performance from us tonight. We were also excellent against Guernsey to be honest - but that didn't get much coverage on here.

Dulwich were well off the pace. I had seen them once earlier in the season when they looked red hot, so I was glad at the recent terrible spell they'd been having and I fancied our chances tonight.

Not really sure who to single out for praise as I think the whole team put an excellent shift in. But our high energy closing down is really putting opponents under pressure. We are closing down opponents up front and in midfield very effectively and they are not getting time on the ball. Two (if not three) of our goals came from forcing the opponent into errors.

I think our back four look fairly solid in the current incarnation. I like Sol at CB and I like Jordan at right back.

Ashley Robinson put a real shift in both today and against Guernsey in the deep lying midfield role. He was excellent again.

The difference in the last two games has been Serge and Chace. Chace is the obvious one - it's clear he is an exception player at this level and is a consistent performer. Serge however - has his critics, including me at times, but in the last two games he has shown how he can change a game and be decisive. He's also looked like he is working hard lately. That spell on the bench perhaps gave him a little lift - good management from Frank if so. He is a game changer if he wants to be, the problem is he hasn't wanted to often enough.

One thing we did very well today was to put the ball in the box early and often. Sometimes we dilly dally on the wings too much, but today early crosses caused them a lot of trouble. In fact Robbo's goal came from a great early cross. We've started to get players in and around the box with more frequency lately too.

Lastly, great to see a nice semi-filled ground with an atmosphere today. Much credit Dulwich on their support and atmosphere. However it was a little bitter sweet in that it just reminded me of what used to be when we regularly got a bigger crowd to Imperial Fields. Hopefully those days are not too far ahead again.

Well done to all concerned today. Very proud to be a stripe tonight!

Re: London Senior Cup

That's it, I'm not going to any more Tooting and Mitcham games ever again
When I go we LOSE!
When I don't go we WIN!
Great result, it's made my morning, very well done.

Re: London Senior Cup

I've lost my voice. I blame the over officious steward who made me feel like a naughty schoolboy by confiscating the traffic cone ( or Megoneophone as Harry calls it ) I use to amplify my volume against Guernsey on Saturday, meaning I had to shout twice as loud and now I've got to croak my way through the rest of the day.

We were brilliant last night, absolutely bloody brilliant. I'm on cloud 9 this morning.

Re: London Senior Cup

OH
MY
GIDDY
AUNT

Well, that easily qualifies as the best £10 I have spent in a very long time.  I still can't believe it this morning, almost like I'm dreaming.  Had to go on the Ryman site to look at the 3-0 just to get it to sink in a bit more.  Absolutely incredible, and can't get over the difference in the team.  They played so much better last night than I've seen for ages (though, as you know I don't get to many games).  Couldn't believe it, last night was something else - incredibly proud of the boys last night.

Had a look on the Dulwich forum earlier, many posts about people being unhappy with their fans booing their team, and some old school supporters alluding to not being keen on the more recent additions to their fans......which I think quite a lot of people realise.  Anyway, all that remains is to say.....

Imber Court!
Imber Court!
We're the mighty Tooting & Mitcham,
And we're off to Imber Court,
Imber Court!

Re: London Senior Cup

I don't normally have a good word to say about Dulwich ( on account of me hating the ******** ) but last night their support was phenomenal as I said at the time to the tall bloke in the cheesecutter cap sporting the half and half Tooting/Dulwich scarf.

I think that might be the first time we've beaten them at Imperial Fields. Anyone know what the official attendance was ?

I followed Plumpton's lead and looked at their fans forum, I found it very reassuring that they still hate us as much as we hate them, especially that fat, scruffy, big girl's blouse Mishi. They did say some very complimentary things about our ground though.

Anyway, as much as it pains me to say it, if any Dullwits read this, you helped create the best atmosphere at a Tooting game since we last played in a LSC final.........12 months ago !!! Hats off to you.

Re: London Senior Cup

I was working last night, but thought to myself, " Sod it!!! I'm not missing out on this!!!!" So I decided to venture along during my break for the second half. And I wasn't disappointed!!! So proud of the lads last night. And what's more, I'M OFF FOR THE FINAL!!!! Was absolutely buzzing when I returned to work straight after the game

WE'RE INTO THE FINAL OF THE BEST CUP COMPETITION IN THE WORLD!!!

ROLL ON MAY THE 4th!!!!

Re: London Senior Cup

Congratulations to all concerned! This has been a very good cup year. No disgrace losing to Brackley and in a parallel universe we would have been in 3 finals. I know the league table doesn't lie but we are surely a better side than our position suggests. With the favourable publicity coming our way via Michail Antonio this may be the best opportunity the club will have to push onward and upward.

Re: London Senior Cup

After witnessing a all round performance many would argue we punched above our weight last night in (pink n blue ) certainly, in my opinion that was a complete performance where we defended and fought like lions for every challenge and won all the second challenges too. My pick of man of the match was very difficult but Ashley Robinson was here there everywhere and that header was accurate and gave the team hope for the remainder of the game. We attacked as one unit and we defended as one unit for the whole 90 minutes and left the neutral wandering who was the premier side on the night. The club has had its critics and I was one of them after the Chatham defeat but last night all the players played like the Harlem Globetroters and were all 7ft tall strutting all over the park . Dulwich Hamlet fans turned up in expectancy mood Tooting fans turned up in hope but Tooting with nothing to lose put on a vintage performance a rolls royce one that made up proud to be United again. Mark my words one win does not make a season but this was special and so were the fans. Be proud Be loud Be Tooting ..............

Re: London Senior Cup

I've allowed myself a little trawl across the Dulwich social media etc and am shocked to hear that there is some sort of groundswell of opinion about getting rid of their manager!  This is a bloke who has turned them from mid table in our division into perennial promotion challengers in the premier division.  To me it looks like he's had 5.5 excellent seasons followed by 3 months of iffy results.  And one way or another has increased their attendances manyfold.  And now there are calls for the manager's head!

Madness.

Re: London Senior Cup

Thank fcuk for that !

Now that the dust has settled and I haven't had a drink yet, I can honestly say that Tuesday night was one of the best matches I've ever experienced watching Tooting & Mitcham. I'm still on a high ( floating down through the clouds ) thinking about it and it'll probably take a defeat at Three Bridges tomorrow before I actually land on planet earth again.

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU
