Must say, I thought that was a decent and open game. A draw was about the right result. Two excellently worked and well taken goals from Jake. But unfortunately we gave away two sloppy goals to give an impressive Molesey side a point. The second equaliser was particularly annoying with Ceesay dropping a missile of a long throw straight to a visiting player . I then staked my claim for a starting place between the sticks at Worthing with a textbook behind the goal save from a Chace free kick. Both sides could have won it it after that, with the visitors almost stealing with the last attack of the game, when their number 2 looped a free header over the bar. Most worrying part of the evening though was Chace going off after taking a nasty whack on the ankle late on. He was sitting on the touch line with an ice pack on his ankle. Just hoping its not too serious!!!!!

Yes we all must pray for Chase, even he doesn't play a league game.Must be fit for cup.Bit worried that the Moles won nearly every header in our box. Jake played really well, and have everything as usual. Other players just seem to drift in and out of the game.Good game though. They were going for the win they need to make play offs.

Even though it was a fairly even game, I'm very disappointed about the goals conceded. I said earlier in the season that we seem to crumble under the slightest pressure. And when a team goes behind they will tend to get more players forward, and we struggle to deal with that. Even Peacehaven caused us problems when they committed more men forward. I think that's 5 times we've been pegged back in the last 3 games.
And set pieces! Our set pieces have been comically ineffective this season, with most corners being easily headed away or caught comfortably by the keeper. And just before that disastrous short corner routine between Price & Wilson I was calling for more players to get back because I knew where that corner would end up - in our box!
Compare that with Molesey's corners which caused panic in our area every time. Admittedly they did seem to have a decent repertoire of different routines, but they seemed to know where the ball was going to be and how it was going to be delivered. Its as if they practiced them. I'm not saying that we don't practice set pieces, but we're doing something wrong there.
But in general play we looked good for most of the game, and like the Faversham game, looked more than comfortable against playoff challengers. So its slightly frustrating that our league position is what it is when you see us competing well against the top teams in the division (and above!)

So impressed was I by the catch I've actually put you down as 3rd on my player of the year form !!! Talking of which, Dave Irons has asked me to remind everyone to get their vote for Chace in by half-time of the Dorking game.
Yet another very good game last night between two evenly matched sides, a draw was the right result in my opinion. I thought Molesey looked one of the quickest, fitest teams I've seen at our place this season.
Fretters, Andy Mc will approve of your technique after criticising me earlier in the season when I opted to punch an Ashley Robinson thunderbolt and almost broke about 11 fingers !

I agree with all the above. Thought the first half was a really good example of footie at our level with both teams playing footie on the floor with no lack of skill, effort and ambition.
Level dropped a bit when the game opened up a bit in the 2nd half and got quite a bit more physical .
Makes you wonderr, yet again, why we are where we are.
Agree on the corners as well. Simply not dangerous at all and the sad lack of goals scored from headers has already been debated on here.
How can Jake still not appear in the Ryman Top Goal Scorers list on the Ryman web site?
At the bottom is Stuart King from relegated Whitstable who has just 19. Jake must have way more league goals than that by now. Surely. (Yes DeePee, if I bought one of your fine programmes I would know)
And how we all applauded when his 2nd goal went in. Another fine finish.
Well no actually. Gary Walker graced us with his presence last night but could not even be bothered to take his hands from his pockets when his beloved team scored a goal.
Shame on you Gary. Scurry back to Chipstead/Merstham/Sutton..
Oh no, we have a cup final coming up!

Regarding JB's goals - I notice that Football Web Pages has the 2nd goal away to Molesey credited to Barrington, and the winner away to Ramsgate credited to O'Neill. Also, I just noticed that the report on the official facebook page gives 26 goals to Baxter this season, whilst the programme lists 26 before last night's brace, bringing him up to 28. That's 22 in the league and 6 in the cup.
Maybe there is an Official goalscorer list that we're not aware of!

Incidentally, if you split the season into BC (before Chatham) and AD (after demolition), Jake scored 3 goals in the 21 games BC and has since scored 25 goals in 35 games AD. I don't know his actual personal appearances in those games, but its still a startling statistic.

My question is - Is Gary Walker and Matt Lucas the same person?

Yes, that was the footballing alter ego - Marco Fretterino......
I didn't get to see Mr Ice Hockey (who I mentioned in the Whitstable thread), part of the fun of non league is bumping into characters you've seen before......takes me up to a whole two league games this season, and even then I was late......
