Hello there,
Not quite related to the action on the pitch - but I spot in the London Drinker that Fullers will be making their Festival Mild as part of the 'Milds in May' season.
I haven't had this since 2004 (before Fullers took over from Gales, so hoping the drink isn't too different) but do the connoisseurs on here know of a good Fullers pub, not a million miles from Thames Ditton, and also one that would be likely to go for the milds/stouts? I have looked on their website and while showing the pubs, I'm also trying to find a 'local' sort of place (not like a town centre pub or a snazzy bar type place)......
Trying to rope the LSC day out with hopefully meeting my old pal Festival Mild again, I know there's some on here who know the area much better than me so any help would be appreciated....
P.S, if anyone has seen Bristol Brewery Milk Stout about, I'd really like to catch up with this again too. Shame not more places don't do Hogs Back RIP and OTT, as available at the Hub. Another nice drop

The Anglers at Teddington Lock is a decent Fuller's pub

My mate gave me a taste of his Real Ale once, it was banana flavoured (no sh*t) it was like drinking alcoholic Nesquik GROSS !
I do have to admit though, I love that Hobgoblin advert that says " What's the matter Lager Boy ? Frightened you might taste something "
I'm going to get a T-Shirt made that says " Actually I am Mr.Hobgoblin......fcuking bananas !! "

Ahhhh Boggs me old mate - sorry you had such a horrendous experience. Must confess such an ale wouldn't do it for me either.....
Thing with these names, a lot of the time it's just the type of ingredient - such as chocolate stout not actually being chocolate - but that's the name to describe that particular colour of malt. Or that's my understanding of it. Certainly milk stout isn't like Nesquick, it's a very nice drop
Then there are the oddities. I recall a regional news story many years ago on a pub which served green coloured ale. It transpired that the colour came from dye on green coloured socks which they put in the mixture when making it.....
Cheers Wolfie by the way, I'll keep in mind : )

Don't take any notice of me Plumpers, I was just trying to provoke a reaction out of that Real Ale snob DeePee. I'll join you in The Anglers for a pint of 'Witches Minge' before the final......apparently it tastes of Anchovies

The Radius Arms at Whyteleafe served that the other week when I was down there. Must admit it didn't look appetising but to be fair "mine host" was selling bucketloads of it.

What was that pub most of us met in last year ?

Just looked that up, Shepherd Neame - another good one and the pics of the pub look really nice, top stuff indeed.
All a bit of a conundrum yet, Fretters informs me he is hitting branches of Wetherspoon in SW London during the daytime, plus I've got to get to a manned railway ticket office at one point to get my advance train ticket for something else going on......never rains ay? Does anyone know if Bill Hill going? If so I need to get into the Imber Court bar before so I can watch him burst in shouting "we're the bog end of Sandy Lane" like last year ; )

The George & Dragon is an absolute must Plumpy. The weather forecast is looking good and they've got a great seating arrangement outside with a big tv showing Sky Sports. We took the place over last year.

What do you predict the crowd to be?Both teams disappointing in the league. That must knock some off.Weather good(hopefully) will help.

It was good last year - the sad thing is (as I've said in other threads) that a few years ago most home games had the same atmosphere , but as I hardly come to any league games and keep up to date mainly on here I can't really talk

There's a Fuller's pub next to Surbiton station- so handy for jumping one stop on a train to either Esher or Thames Ditton.
