My adopted team Harrogate town finally scraped into the National league North Play offs yesterday with a win over bottom of the table Corby. Not having had a penalty in a home game all season it was very handy to get a dodgy one from the referee after 3 minutes which helped settled the pre match nerves of players and supporters. This means that while United are seeking cup glory at Imber Court Town will be at home to AFC Fylde in the first of their two leg semi final play off. Winners go on to play North Ferriby away or Boston at home in the single leg final. Anyone remember United playing Boston in 1980 - we had 2 players sent off and lost 1-0? I would love to see Harrogate promoted and go on to give Sutton a thrashing next season. Good luck to United and Town and here's hoping for a win double on Wednesday.

Good luck to Harrogate Mike.what's your prediction? Are you in with a chance?

There's not a lot to choose between the 4 play off teams (unlike NLS where a ridiculous 20 points separate 2nd and 5th). Unfortunately Harrogate's recent form, which includes a 2-1 defeat at Fylde and a 0-0 home draw with Boston, is the poorest of the 4 so expectations are not excessively high. However, with the yellow/black army and Boris the drummer urging them on anything is possible. Come on you stripes (both versions)..

First many congratulations to United. Given their relative league positions I think this might well be considered a more notable triumph than that of the 2007 team. I am afraid Town had a very bad night at the office and were lucky to lose only 0-1. Suffice to say that the Town goalkeeper was man of the match which is not what you expect in the home leg of a play off.

Much better performance at Fylde today but 1-1 means the dream has died.

Better luck next year.do you go to the away games as well?

I have been to all Town's home games this season but only 3 aways - FCUM, North Ferriby (a village near Hull) and Alfreton in Derbyshire. The previous season Stockport and Hyde. I also saw York play Wimbledon in the FA Cup. National North is much more spread out than National South. I no longer drive a car and there is no railway station in Wetherby (thank you Dr Beeching), The nearest "convenient" station is Leeds to which there is an hourly bus service that takes an hour. Hanging around Leeds for an evening bus home is not something to be highly recommended.
