Tooting v Barnet

How did we get on last night ?

Re: Tooting v Barnet

Drew 1-1.

Caught my first pre-season game last night. I was quietly impressed. Granted it's still a friendly and we also had a good 20+ players on show, which will get whittled down eventually. But there was definitely some good energy and talent on show. Not quite the cohesion, but you'd expect that at this early stage of proceedings. We were wasteful in front of goal, but that isn't a concern this early in the campaign.

Nice to see some retained faces in: Bash, Sol PB, Jordan Wilson, M.Price, L.Hall, Tenny at left back, Kurtis Pykes, and no offence to anyone there last night who i've missed here.

The only trialist I had heard of before was Quincey Rowe who used to be with us a few seasons back and was pretty good then if my memory serves me well. Did fine last night.

Other notable performances from the new lot were the goalkeeper in the first half - not that much to do but looked sturdy and good handling.
Danny Bassett (?) - striker who scored our only goal, was lively, energetic, perhaps a little wasteful.
Eddie Dines - thought he was excellent in CM in the second half at intercepting the ball in dangerous areas and driving forward.
Alex Kenlock (brother of Keiran who we had at CB a couple of seasons ago) - unfortunately went off injured quite early, but is ex Notts County Youth and would be good to get a better look at him - wish him a speedy recovery.

Generally speaking I don't feel the need to mention our crop from last year, we all know what they are capable of. Except Kurtis Pykes - i think he is worth a mention because I feel he should be a key player for us this season, improved dramatically over the second half of last season - definitely a prospect.

Jake Baxter I understand is injured but returning. Anyone know about CB Simmo?

A good competitive game against decent opposition. I assume it was a crop of their youngsters, perhaps a few first teamers mixed in? Their no.20 in midfield ran the game, Left footed player - was a different class.

Despite our disappointing league campaign last season, I think our management team definitely deserved another go this season. Part because of the cup success, but also because of the improvement in the side over the second half of the season. I think Dale compliments Wilson quite well, and I think they look like they will command respect much more this season, now that retained players know what they are about and capable of, and new players get to know. Good luck to them.

There was a new face in the dugout last night from a management perspective - either a coach or a fitness guy...anyone know who he is?

That's my summary!
How did others find it?
Small crowd, i guess 100 or so, maybe less. Hopefully a few bigger crowds for Palace U21s and Dulwich at home.

There might even have been fewer than that, as Endo might say !

Very accurate summary dac. I thought our football merited a win but for conceding a very late equaliser.

Does Quincy Rowe have the bandiest legs since Malcolm McDonald ? He did play well though.

One thing I forgot to mention from the new set of trialists, sorry for lack of name:
The right back in the second half - looked good! Very quick across the ground with and without the ball and good delivery on the few chances he got to whip it in!

Re: Tooting v Barnet

Anyone know who the number 22 was in the second half? He looked a decent player as well

Re: Tooting v Barnet

Centre mid or just behind Pricey upfront

Re: Tooting v Barnet

If it's the one I am thinking of...the guy who kept intercepting high up the pitch and feeding Price...I think it was Eddie Dines

Correct me if I am wrong!

If we are talking about the same player, he impressed me also.
