I see that we have registered 23 players in time for the first game on Saturday (see Facebook). Baxter is not on the list, so I assume that his injury will be keeping him out for a while yet. Also, no place for Adam Thompson - it looks as if the centre back spots will be contested by Simeone, Rowe, Smith-Joseph and Patterson-Bohner - hopefully we can get a combination of aerial strength and pace in that position.
Up front it looks like we have got a lot of options - I suppose it depends on what formation we use. If its the 433 we have quite a lot of wide players, but have we got the number 9? If its to be a 442, then again, its all about getting a combination that works together.
In midfield we look solid - but as someone mentioned earlier, have we got the flair? If Wilson plays there, we have someone who can beat players, and I also see Pykes as someone who can drive the team forwards.
Obviously we want to get off to a good start, but I also notice that we have only played 5 friendlies - 3 of which were against U21 teams. Compared to say, Hendon, who I think have played 11 or 12 friendlies. Hopefully, the fact that we have the core of last season's team will mean that we will have a good understanding amongst the players, but we need to get the key areas of centre back and centre forward working as quickly as possible.

Copying over my comments from other thread:
"From last season: Matte Pierson, Jordan Wilson, Tenny Adebowale, Antonio Simeone, Sol Patterson-Bohner, Bash Alimi, Lee Hall, Ashley Robinson, Kurtis Pykes, Matt Price, Leon Lalor-Dell.
Ex-Terrors: Taurean Roberts, Billy Dunn and Quincy Rowe
New faces: Kyle Merson, Danny Bassett, Emmanuel Akokhia, Cameron Karembo, Eddie Dines, Myles Henry, Athan Smith-Joseph, Ollie Bennett and Mike Dixon
So looks like Adam Thompson is not on that list....otherwise it's pretty much everyone we've been trialing over the last couple of games!
No doubt that squad will get reduced significantly over the coming weeks? Surely we can only name a squad of 18 or so for a match day (?) which means 5 players have signed but won't even be in the match day squad. Also jake baxter to return when he is fit. "

For what it's worth, this is the eleven I'd start with on Saturday, operating a 4-4-1-1 system....
Pierson
Sol P-B Rowe Simeone Adebowale
Robinson Hall Pykes Wilson
Roberts
My Mum
Obviously I'd only play my mum up front on her own until such time as Jake Baxter gets fit. Unless she scores a few goals in the meantime of course. I tried to find a spot for Leon Lalor-Dell but he seems to have more effect as an impact sub. Joining Leon on the bench I'd gamble with Merson (not the first time those words have been used in the same sentence), Price, Bassett (who could score Allsorts of goals) and Bash. In all honesty I haven't been overly enamoured with any of the newcomers.

Mine for what it's worth (4-3-3 or 4-1-2-3:
Merson
SPB Athan S.J. Simmo Tenny
Robbo
Pykes Hall
Wilson Dunn/Bassett T.Roberts

I really get frustrated when I see a player like Adam Thompson being dumped & yet we retain the services of Simmo. It does not make any sense at all. Adam is so much a better player than the one footed Simmo. We also need a striker, Danny Bassett is not the answer, he wastes too many opportunties in front of goal.

One footed Sim? You probably weren't there when he smashed a 20 yard right footed volley into the top corner at Peacehaven!

Think I like the look of yours dac123,I've not seen your mum play bog end in any of the games so far.my 2 worries are the forwards and Jordan at the back.think he has so much skill,he would be much better playing further forward. The games I have seen we are fine until final third.Might be ok away from home, but can we break down defences at home?

Saturday will, unfortunately, be my first game this season, having finished last season on a high and watching the style of football we were playing I felt that if we can keep the nucleus of the squad, with a few additions, we can move on to a possible decent position, maybe even a play off spot, unfortunately the loss of Jake is going to have a big effect on where we finish, going from past experience of the player, Billy Dunn certainly is not going to contribute many goals, he might surprise me but I doubt it.
Like Geoff I am surprised that Thompson has been let go, when he played for us last he was certainly a stand out player and I did not hear any voices who were not disappointed when he left, but somebody on here described him as "that big lump in the middle" so perhaps the management team felt he was not fit enough.
Like a lot of the guys on here I have never seen Crickets mum play, but from what I have been reading on the reports on here, she might prove a real find! and terrorise the opponents defences, worth a punt ?.
With Saturday nearly here we will soon get an idea of where we will finish, let us hope it is higher than last year as we certainly can not afford to be lower.

How did you get that illustration Boggs? That's quite a few clever strikes of the tab key. I know I couldn't do it.....
Mine would be something like this:
Here we go Knackers
Oh where's Cheery Dave Brookside!!!!
A haircut from Big Maurice
Leppers Woahhhhhhh Bodyform
Romauld Bouadji Mr. Bentley
A can of Special Brew Why only 8%
Apples! Apples! Big juicy apples Colin Stagg
Well if anything I've learnt about IT

Nobody is mentioning Emmanuel Akokhia as a potential starter. I haven't seen him this season, but I think he was Casuals' top scorer over the last 2 seasons and moved to Met Police in the Premier Division. He seems to know where the net is.

My Mum is a bit upset about being over looked for the striker role.
Ok she missed the trials because they clashed with her bingo night.
And not so good in the air now as she even gets a bit wobbly up a step ladder.
But I don't think I've ever seen a central defender who could kick her up in the air.
So she would be perfect in a holding role.
Not seen any pre season games but very pleased the squad is a settled one.
Really looking forward to Saturday but we may need to be patient with Jake out.
It is always the limited few who can put the ball in the net who cost the big bucks.

I can vouch for the fact Geoff most definitely WAS there Endo but the game had been so poor up til that point that he was doing the crossword ( I'm not joking) when Simmo blasted home and probably presumed he'd headed it !

I must admit I forgot about Emmanuel, but haven't seen that much of him.We need to get off to a good start.I do believe the quality is there,so let's do it!

You are right Chris, I was there & yes I was doing the football crossword. Roger, I did see the the goal & I was as surprised as Simmo that the ball found its way to the net. It fell just right for him. You could have scored it yourself Roger..

Well, I have attempted long range volleys in the past, and most of them didn't even land on the pitch.

Our team shot to pieces with no Robinson or Price in squad.Rethink our team line up and tactics.

Casey .............. oh harbinger of doom - keep the faith !
These guys (Frank & Paul) know what they're at. As far as I'm aware (whispers only, no insider information) Ash may have a niggle and Pricey may be suspended, but what do I know ?? (or they may both be on holiday ?? )
Whichever or whatever you can't rubbish the management and an entire season based on a couple of players being unavailable for one match whatever the reason.
