T&M 1 Herne Bay 1

A decent start to the season. We were bright up front and probably edged the match overall, but HB's defence was strong. Both goals came in the first half, with HB benefiting from a poor clearance. Billy Dunn equalised with a well struck shot from the edge of the box. Ref gave us nothing all game.

I'm glad you've put a bit of a positive spin on it as I left the ground a bit disappointed  I felt we were seeing the same problems that affected us for much of last season.

But I suppose we did get forward fairly well, especially towards the end of each half.

Re: T&M 1 Herne Bay 1

I'm reasonably content with that performance. I mean we probably should have won, but we didn't lose and we also looked reasonably good in possession and played it around quite well.

Great goal by Billy Dunn. He played well in the first half, our best player in my opinion. Was somewhat quieter in the second half as he was starved of possession and we were under more pressure from them in the second half.

Lee Hall needs to be a bit sharper in midfield. Was sloppy today and turned over possession to the opposition a few too many times.

Special mention for Matte Pierson. Saved in 1 on 1 situations a couple of times today, saving Quicy's blushes on more than one occasion.

Danny Bassett also worthy of a mention for his work rate and hold up play against what was a very strong and aggressive pair of centre halves. He coped well.

Lacked real cutting edge today but my honest opinion is a side like that (big, strong, rough, ugly) would have turned us over previously. We got bullied a bit physically, but we didn't roll over today...good to see.

First game of the season...I think we'll get better.

Thought we bit of everything Saturday, some comical defending and some good moves.I think we missed Robinson, with his range of passing. The way we try to play he's an important part of the team.Good goal from Dunn, but he did nothing in 2nd half.I thought Basset linked up well and battled all game.Lets see how it goes next couple of games.I will miss Chatham game,so I wait to see what you guys say.

Tooting had never been a happy hunting ground with three draws and one defeat from four outings and with just one goal scored. When Sam Hasler thundered home in the 25th minute it looked like Bay were on for their first victory but Billy Dunn levelled nine minutes later. Tooting had the lion’s share of possession in the second period but failed to test Jack Delo and Bay had the best chances with Stuart Zanone and Sam Hallett both missing out on chances when one-on-one with keeper.Ray Kelly writes: (will appear here)"There was a little bit of a spark missing, we've got Gary Sayer injured and Danny Williams suspended", said Denly, "For me, if we want to compete this season we've got to be a lot better. It's a game we should have won".Herne Bay: Jack Delo, Michael Turner (Adam Woolcott 77), Harry Brown, Joe Nelder, Liam Quinn, Connor Sanders, Danny Walder, James Turner (Kane Phillip 70), Mark Lovell (Sam Hallett 80), Stuart Zanone, Sam Hasler.Subs not used: Georgio Russo, Toby Wood
