Excellent as ever Rog.

I did hear that we got walloped 3-0 at Hendon last night. After Friday nights disappointing display where I left the ground feeling quite deflated, I've lowered my expectations a notch or two for the coming season. Perhaps a mid table finish and a decent run in a couple of cups (not fussy which).

Well I did read a couple of disappointingly familiar comments about last night's game. The Hendon Twitter said that they scored their first against the run of play, and our own Facebook report says we were unable to turn good possession into good chances. Both very reminiscent of most of our games in the 2nd half of last season.

It was familiar last night..good with the ball all the way up to the opposition box, but then little end product, incision, ideas. Very leaky in defense which was worrying. I would say that looked like quite a strong Hendon side though....but who really knows until the seasons kick off?
Our biggest issue is we have no penetrative midfielder who wants to drive forward and put opposition defenses on the back foot. That is the gap Chace has left, which looks like a big gap. I think Lee Hall, Robbo, Kurtis, Bash, are all good midfielders but none lack that drive to run with it at the opposition defense. Billy Dunn can do that but he is more of a striker I guess and blows hot and cold.
One point I would make - I have really liked the look of the right sided centre back who has played in most if not all of our second halfs. Athan-Smith Joseph. He has looked really comfortable and arguably better than Rowe / Thompson. Quick across the ground and looks strong. I haven't seen him beaten often.
I thought they only positives were Taurean and Billy who linked up fairly well and Taurean got into dangerous positions. His end product was lacking though.
Second half difficult to judge as the game was already dead and Hendon were happy to sit on their lead and play the ball around.

Am I correct in thinking Jordan played rb?Thought the plan was play him further forward.I don't think he's a full time rb.Or put put Sol back there? What were the 2 new players like?

Yes Jordan was at RB. I think the "plan" to play him forward was the fans' plan as expressed on here, not the management!
Interestingly the facebook page reports that 23 players have signed Ryman forms ahead of our home game on Saturday.
From last season: Matte Pierson, Jordan Wilson, Tenny Adebowale, Antonio Simeone, Sol Patterson-Bohner, Bash Alimi, Lee Hall, Ashley Robinson, Kurtis Pykes, Matt Price, Leon Lalor-Dell.
Ex-Terrors: Taurean Roberts, Billy Dunn and Quincy Rowe
New faces: Kyle Merson, Danny Bassett, Emmanuel Akokhia, Cameron Karembo, Eddie Dines, Myles Henry, Athan Smith-Joseph, Ollie Bennett and Mike Dixon
So looks like Adam Thompson is not on that list....otherwise it's pretty much everyone we've been trialing over the last couple of games!
No doubt that squad will get reduced significantly over the coming weeks? Surely we can only name a squad of 18 or so for a match day (?) which means 5 players have signed but won't even be in the match day squad. Also jake baxter to return when he is fit.
