CHIPS TODAY.

Pitch inspection at 12-15 pm.
No standing water at present but we all know how this pitch suffers in the wet weather.
Fingers crossed.

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

Had to miss a game before Xmas and chose this one.
Now it appears I am missing (more) pure gold from the team/squad.
Currently 0 - 5!!!!     More goals for Billy Dunn and Mike Dixn.
And good to see Danny B also getting on the scoresheet.
Need everybody firing on all cylinders going in to the winter period.

Now let's see who at the top drops points.

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

Bonds

Ended 0-7 with Billy getting 4. If we had got double figures I am not sure Chipstead could have complained....up to 2nd as Greenwich lost at home

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

Talking to one of the Chipstead directors during the second half and he thought we were the best he had seen at their place this season, first class performance by all  the team, you had to feel sorry for Matt, he must have been frozen especially during the second half.
Frank and Paul must be starting to feel that all the hard work put in is at last coming to fruition, long may it last.
So where can this team take us, with performances like the last couple you would feel to the very top, or at worst to a playoff spot.

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

'Coming together quite nicely' sums it up well 59er, but such a long way to go.
And it will be a struggle to contain our expectations.

A short while ago we seemed a little adrift but just a few games between the (other) sides at the top have changed things dramatically in our favour.   And that will continue.
Can't wait for our forthcoming games against the big boys.

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

I was a little surprised when I saw Jordan at right back and not Callum, but looks like he was not in the squad at all. Jordan played fine as well at RB, and it just goes to show we just have two good options for almost every position!

In reality the defence didn't have much to do today, Chipstead didn't offer too much. But they do say the best type of defence is to attack, and we did a lot of that which means chipstead were not able to attack or see any of the ball.

The most pleasing part of today was to keep the concentration to get the clean sheet. For that effort a special mention to Quincy Rowe who was excellent and Matte who made a couple of good saves when the score was much lower.

If you look at all of our games this season in the league, we have scored 2 or more in all but two games, so hitting the back of the net has never been a problem. But it was very good to see us take a team apart as we've always showed that attacking promise.

Was a nice luxury to see Chace come off on 50 odd minutes when the tie was already over. He was excellent today.

And of course the special mention again goes to Billy Dunn. I've defended him from the day we signed him, but I no longer feel I have to as his goals are doing the talking.

Last but not least, I was reservedly vocal earlier in the season in saying I wasn't sure Mike Dixon was good enough, but with the caveat that he was only getting 5-10 minutes a game at the end. I am thrilled to have been wrong and he is now looking confident, strong, and most importantly clinical.

We are a confident side at the moment. But we must maintain that concentration.

Special mention to our management duo who are doing very well and have believed in the style of football they tried to implement ever since Mark Hams left. It's really coming to fruition. Well done Frank and Paul.

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

Well what else can be said about that result??? Every goal that flashed up on the Non League Vidiprinter was marked with a jig of delight here at South Wimbledon station. Probably got a few stares from people passing through my station wondering what I was up to!!!! But who cares!!! I was as good as there, because the ticket hall at this station is so cold, it felt like I was actually in Chipstead!!!

Really looking forward to East Grinstead on Tuesday now!!!

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

Did you see the last game Dac123?
After the treatment Callum was subjected to I am not surprised he was unavailable on Saturday.
I presume he was (still) injured.

SENSATIONAL !!! And what about the goals ? Another 4 flukey tap-ins for Billy.

I've always been a great believer in keeping my gunpowder dry, but after that performance my trigger finger is starting to get twitchy.

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

What a game for me to miss!!!

Obviously the forwards are getting all the credit, but reading the reports, it seems that Pierson made 2 good saves in the 1st half when it was still 1-0, including 1 that led to our 2nd goal.  I thought it was only us who conceded like that!

But if Pierson hadn't made that save, we could have been going in at 1-1 instead of 2-0, and who knows how that would have affected the half time team talks of both teams, and how the sides approached the 2nd half.

And I think the manager must take some credit - it looks like he made a couple of changes from the Cray game, whereas conventional wisdom might have said to keep the same team.

And as for Billy Dunn, what an impact he's having.  The management seem to have found the perfect role for him and he's responding with goals.

I'm still trying to rein in the excitement, and trying not to look at the next 3 games as very winnable!

Re: CHIPS TODAY.

7-0 away wins don't come round very often. The one I remember best was an FA Cup triumph in 1983-84 against Thanet (now Margate). By strange coincidence, if I remember correctly, three of the goals that day were scored by Butch Dunn and the other four by Ronnie Murrock. I wonder if Butch and Billy are related?
