This game is the start of a critical Xmas / New Year week, and real crunch game for both clubs with ambitions of promotion this season. Although a meaningless result, the Terrors won a Surrey Senior Cup game at Colston Avenue 12th December which should lift their spirits for another game of synthetic football. There are a number of important fixtures over the holiday period, and this match being one of them.
Up until the 6th December Tooting looked in a really strong position to establish a championship winning team, with a record equalling run of 9 winning games. But 3 loses on the bounce against Greenwich Borough, Walton Casuals and a drubbing against Hastings has changed the complexion of Tooting's challenge.
Tooting have slipped to 2nd in the League, and other teams are queuing up behind with games in hand, including Carshalton. The Terrors have to eradicate this slump in form, to have any ambitions of promotion. The fortunate aspect is the Terrors are in 2nd position and a win would be a great boost for the club going onto the New Year. It would be really sad to see the team fade away in the second part of the season.
Let's hope this is a festive season for the Terrors.
