Is there a preferred pub to meet up in on Saturday in Lewes ?

The closest one I can find Andy is the "Lewes Arms" Mount Street, it is roughly three quarters of a mile from the ground and serves real beer, also food is available.

Just found another one Andy which might be just up your street, it appears as if it is a good music venue, combined with real ale. It is just close to the Lewes Arms.
The Lamb, Fisher Street.

Blimey I read that a bit too quickly the first time. I read that as "serves beer and also real food is available" - that's always a plus : o

There must be somewhere that sells strong fizzy lager, surely ?
BIG game tomorrow, with Dorking travelling to the hapless Chatham it's vital we don't get beat. Every single game feels like a cup semi-final to me at the moment.

If you can drag yourselves away from the pub may I recommend Lewes Castle which is in the town centre and affords commanding views of the surrounding area.
Worth a visit.

Does it sell real ale?

As I live near Lewes I consider myself an expert on the pub (real ale) scene. The Gardeners is a free house so you will get other beers as well as Harveys. But really you can't beat a pint of Harveys Best, so go to the John Harvey. It is down a side street, right, just over the bridge. It is an excellent pub and the staff are very nice, so be on your best behaviour, but of course you always are! Most of the beers are poured straight from the barrel.
I hope you make it up the hill, Bondy it is indeed a lovely view from the castle. I am off to a pub further afield.
I fear a drink or two will be needed for this difficult game.

Looks like we're spoilt for choice on this trip. The Gardeners and The John Harvey look the best bet. See you there.
