Re: Godalming 0-3 Tooting

Want to highlight just how good a signing dan Clements looks to have been. He was excellent again today. His pace and movement are really dangerous and he was very unlucky with that thunderous shot that hit the crossbar at 0-0. My man of the match today.

Dixon and Mazzone did well, we looked much more dangerous when Dixon had support closer to him. Well done to the management for changing the game with the substitutions. Nice for Mazzone to score two against his ex club to make the score look a lot more comfortable than the game actually was.

Oh and a wonderful free kick from wedgie to give us the lead. We looked much more confident once the first goal had gone in, I guess breaking the deadlock calms the nerves somewhat, even for the players.

Re: Godalming 0-3 Tooting

I think Godalming were the only team we've faced this season that knew they couldn't win the game, so their whole game plan was to stop us scoring, and they did that very well up until the last ten minutes.
If we had converted our total first half domination into an early goal, we could have got a hatful.
I don't think we'll have another game like this, most other teams are good enough to believe they can  get something out of a game and not put eleven players behind the ball.
The tension is building. !!

Re: Godalming 0-3 Tooting

Good point Andy MC,Godalming did just try to stop us.If they got a corner or free kick they could send big boys up,and they had a few.Great free kick by Wedgie. My son and I were right behind it,saw it curl in all the way.Was never going to be easy on bumpy pitch and high winds.Glad mazz got 2 goals.Again good squad work.

Re: Godalming 0-3 Tooting

Sounds like the game followed a similar pattern to the home game, where Godalming only seemed intent on defence, and managed to hold out to the 78th minute.

Re: Godalming 0-3 Tooting

My only previous visit to Godalming was for a night game and I have to say the ground looks much better in the dark  #kackhole

Lovely portion of golden crispy chips from the snack bar though, excellent. When Bondy spilled his chips all those years ago did he go back for more ? If he did it would have been a 'chip replacement operation'.
