Dorking suspensions

After losing 2 of their best players for the last 3 games of the season, I see that Sole got himself sent off against us.  And he will be getting a 3 match ban starting Saturday.  So it looks like he is available today, but will miss the play off final if they get there..

But did anyone see what he did to get sent off?

Re: Dorking suspensions

Off the ball or during play? The whole thing seemed to pass me by until the moment the ref brandished a red and he walked off. I was standing over the other end to be fair.

Re: Dorking suspensions

Dorking won on penalties and Corinthian casuals won with 10 men for the majority of their game. That's a good final in my books!

Re: Dorking suspensions

The playoffs. Totally unfair but keep the season alive, so serve a good purpose.
I like Casuals but if theres any justice, Dorking should go through.
Last year Dorking went out to a team that finished 20 points behind them in the league. On Tuesday they were 5 minutes away from going out to Hastings who finished even further behind them than that in the league.
If  Dorking  lose they might well  think what is the point of a league at all.

Re: Dorking suspensions

Could not agree more Andy, not a great lover of the playoff`s, but then I suppose if in another season my team had that chance or none at all, let`s face it, I know what I would say                                                Champions of London! and Ryman South.

Re: Dorking suspensions

I think the positives of the playoff systems outweigh the negatives - especially at our level.  Take this season, for example: If there were no playoffs, it would have only been us and Dorking for the last 3 months.  The playoff system has meant that everyone in the top half had something to play for up until the last couple of weeks or so.  Yes - not great for the 2nd placed team, but for the overall good of non-league football, I'm in favour.

Having said that, I wouldn't be in favour if the 1st place team had to be involved.  As long as 1st place gets automatic promotion, then I'm happy.  (No just because it was us, by the way!)
