BUTCH

So sad to hear of the passing of a true legend and gent.
By all accounts one of the games nicest people.
How many goals were scored, not just by a wish and a prayer, but by being aware of where the goal was, looking up, and then placing the ball in exactly the right spot.
A truly gifted talent, the likes of which comes along very rarely.

RIP Butch.

Re: BUTCH

I met Ray Wilkins when he visited the BMW dealership (a few times to be true) that I worked doing Body Shop estimatingl.
He'd bought his daughter's (wife's ? can't remember) german Mini in for an estimate on some "bumper/bonnet damage"
Anyway after a bit of careful consideration I shut the bonnet properly (it had only been shut down on one of its two catches) and he was gob smacked - the perceived problem had gone away instantly.
Well Ray was not a little embarrassed of course and after many deep found apologies for his daughter's oversight he started to ask me personally if he could give me some consideration for my time - indeed he was almost pressing a few tenners in to my hand when of course, as you do, I politely refused.
He was really nice guy and he'll be sorely missed.

Omn another note, he bought in his son's BMW  (fully decked out in true boy racer fashion, lowered, loud etc., etc.) in for a service. Anyway the workshop techys popped it up on a ramp and as it rose in to the air there came a loud crunching and shards of glass tubing fell to the ground. The car had been fitted with those silly blue fluorescent light tubes that illuminated the ground under the car which were in fashion at the time
Anyway the embarrassed techy had to tell the workshop manager who then had to call Ray to try to resolve the problem with the customer.
Not a problem says Ray, we told the boy he was an idiot putting all that crap under the car. Don't worry about it just take the rest of the rubbish off the car too.
A true gentleman - RIP Ray.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left !

Re: BUTCH

Sums him up DeePee.
Could you imagine some of the less gifted footballers of today taking it in such a considerate way.
