December- A time for Giving and Festivities

Tooting now have a couple of months of relief from playing teams with promotion prospects. A majority of games will be against other mediocre clubs in this dreadful league. Tooting are now 15th in the league which has 19 clubs. There is a chance 4 teams will be relegated at the end of the season. All data quoted is at the time of writing 2/12/21

December matches are as follows: -
4/12/21 Home V Chalfont St Peter
The Saints 17th in the league, and if they win, they will leapfrog Tooting.

11/12/21 Away V Thatcham Town
The Town are 10th  the league, but have played 2 games more than Tooting. At least the ground is only a short walk from the station.

14/12/21 Away V Binfield
This re-arranged game with the “Moles” will be played in the fields of Binfield miles from civilisation, at Hill Farm Lane. Currently midway in the league in 9th position, this tiny club just makes you think what can be achieved on the Football front. That's “Food for Thought.”

18/12/21 Home V Westfield
2 points and one place above Tooting, Westfield will want to repeat their home victory on the first game of the season against us!

21/12/21 Away V Staines Town
The Swans are currently bottom of the league in 19th position, and are in total disarray. they sacked the management team last night, and will appoint an interim manager until the New Year when a permanent manager will be appointed.  Although at this time they are only 3 points behind Tooting!

27/12/21 Away V Sutton Common Rovers
The Terrors have visited Gander Green Lane over the years, and some great games have been witnessed by large attendances. A Xmas holiday game against Sutton United would have drawn another large crowd. Instead, we are playing Sutton Common Rovers, a team who has never had its own ground whilst playing in the pyramid with pathetic low attendance. The average league gate is under 50, and 94 turned up against Basingstoke, which I presume was bolstered by the away team following.  This match about sums up the position and situation Tooting are in! The Rovers are 13th with 13 points.

I think that we SHOULD pick up 11 or 12 points from this month's matches.  Less than 10 would be a massive disappointment.

Re: December- A time for Giving and Festivities

It's really important Tooting pick up a win at Thatcham Town on Saturday! The Town are unbeaten in their last 6 games with 1 win and 5 draws, and seem a difficult team to beat. These are the matches which Tooting need to  win after a dreadful November, and every point gained now will help keep them from relegation.

Job done, sadly away to Binfield (in a field in the middle of nowhere) was a step too far.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left !
