Start of with a little bit about me....I’ve been coming to games since moving into the area around 18 years ago. I was well aware of the club and its long history, and this was one of the reasons I started coming to games. I’ve be a regular both home and away with my son since around 2011. Not as long as the vast majority on here but long enough to form my own opinions about things. I know most of you on here and have enjoyed your company at games. I was a director of the Members Club for a very short period of time but left after becoming very unhappy with their direction and comments made at meetings. I’m now the secretary of the Supporters Club, working alongside Dave Irons, Charlie Till, Peter Woodhouse and Anthony Harrold (My Son). I helped run the club shop and have helped with and organised several charity events. I do the now occasional blog where I mentioned the Tin Foil Hat wearing people who post on here. Now I’ll tell you why.
This forum should be a place to let off steam, a chance for supporters to vent their anger, displeasure or on very rare occasions, happiness…
Some of the posts that go up on here are awful. Name calling, name changing and a few which could even be classed as libellous or a deformation of character in legal terms.
Good subjects and important issues get lost as people launch attacks on each other and others at the club. This is why after seeing personal attacks on friends of mine I stopped posting on here. I think this forum has lost its way and personally speaking has done more damage amongst our own supporters than the owner, members club or fans of Sutton or Dulwich combined could ever do.
A few years ago, at a friend’s BBQ a player from Redhill (possibly South Park) was introduced to me, he was asking what was happening at the club and how and why so many fans were at each other’s throats. It was hard to say anything as in truth it was correct if you go by the various forums or online platforms connected with our fan base. Going back through the club’s online history a number of forums have come and gone. Many self-destructing as people turned on each other. This forum, although set up with the best of intentions has gone the same way.
Please just think about things before putting stuff up. The supporters need a voice, and they need this forum, what they don’t need is personal abuse. It helps no one and if anything, thing stops sensible debate. I’ve been guilty of this in the past, I’ll admit that, but I also know that in the long run it does not help anyone or anything.
Please don’t think the various WhatsApp groups that have sprung up are full of happiness and joy at the situation we now find ourselves in. It’s just on there it is between us and not for everyone on the internet to see. Supporters on Twitter are also disillusioned with events on and off the pitch. I used to get trolled on Twitter by fans from other local rivals, now very rarely. We have slipped so far away from the likes of Dulwich and Sutton that many of the fans who now go and watch them will know little of the history and rivalry between clubs.
I care about this club, and it really upsets me the way the club has imploded so badly since the London Senior Cup victory and the failed to build on the crowds and new supporters we were getting that short time ago. The club missed a massive chance to build on the interest shown by newcomers. Covid hit the club badly, to lose two seasons including the income from the other interests at the ground would have had a huge effect on things. In many respects the ground is far too big for us. The facilities, rates, insurance, and maintenance must be a huge drain on finances. I don’t believe the club was set up to fail but I do think that at this moment of the club’s history it is failing dramatically. Caroline McRoyal leaving also had a big effect. She has not been replaced and we miss her influence at the club.
I’ve spoken to Steve Adkins on a number of occasions about the club and his hopes for it. I don’t believe for one minute he is happy with the way things are going. Why would anyone want a business to go so badly wrong? Maybe it’s time for a fresh pairs of eyes and a knowledge of running sports events etc to take a look at the current business plan and advise on moving forward. I wonder if the links with the Members Club and running of the club as it stands holds things back. A bit of honesty wouldn’t go a miss…. The Members club although providing match day volunteers, helping raise funds though events and sponsorship needs a major overhall. The mantra seems to be “We’ll get a volunteer to do it” or “We’ll get supporters to pay for it” forgetting that a large part of our fan base will have very little time or disposable income to help out with. I left as a Director under a bit of a cloud to say the least. Ideas brought up, plans thought out, all ignored. As I said earlier, I was unhappy about comments made about our supporters during meetings and left.
Their reply to the open letter written on behalf of the supporter’s clubs raising concerns about supporter morale seemed to be ignored and not taken seriously. Even though I have history with a couple of them there, I can’t see the point in being childish on here. I’ll save my childish comments for Twitter and the Blogs….
On the pitch. I like Ashley, I’ve always got on well with him and personally I think he is a great bloke. Do I think he should still be the manager; well results are hard to argue with and at most other clubs he would have been replaced. Is he good for the academy, absolutely 100% . But this is one of the major issues at TMUFC. Are we a football team with an academy or are we an academy with a football team? What is the long-term plan? Is there a long-term plan? Will we the supporters ever get any form of answer.
One thing I do know is that some of the stuff that gets posted on here doesn’t help at all and there is no need for some of the posts put up about him. Away from the football, on a human level he deserves better than that.
Thanks for your time….

Steve firstly i am probably someone who you could include as a member of the tin hat brigade and yes i hold my hand up and admit that i have put so called abusive remarks on the forum concerning the owner and the manager and whilst i have respect for you and the way you conduct yourself i stand by most of the comments i have made on this forum.
The manager is totally out of his depth and should have had the temerity to have resigned a long time ago,
and in my opinion the owner as an owner is a joke you say he is as concerned with the way the club has gone the past few seasons as anybody else well i would say he has shown precious little concern as yet.
You are of course correct when you say some of the comments are somewhat beyond the pale but quite honestly what else can you expect.
Steve supporters are so frustrated with the way things are run its no wonder that some of us lose our rag and take out our frustration with bad comments.
Old time supporters like myself will never return to watch our club with the way it is set up now all most of us can see is the club being run down gradually and no action from our owner.
You posed the question are we a football club with an academy or an academy with a football team sorry steve i would have thought the answer to that would be painfully obvious.
I hope steve i have been nice in reply to your post but i wont be holding back in future posts if i think it is neccessary.Adios Hackbridge.

Hello Steve and thanks for taking the time to compose your post and sending along. There’s nothing there that I would be unkind about to be honest so hopefully this comes across as a reasonable reply.
For me, this forum is a meeting point of like minded people who are deeply frustrated with what’s going on at T&M - we all care about the club too hence the emotion on here. I find it reassuring that there’s a regular pool of posters who all share the same feelings of disappointment, disillusionment and anger that I do.
I turned up at T&M in the Billy Smith/George Wakeling era and it was a grand time. The atmosphere was electric at every game, and the then Ryman South had some great away trips. I’ll never forget the game against Cray Wanderers which saw us go into the Ryman Premier - that day was the icing on the cake. It was excellent to meet so many dedicated and knowledgable fans who I’ve now known for many years.
Fast forward to 2023 and we’re in a horrible league, there’s been many changes at T&M and the direction and aims of the club seem to be totally the opposite of what they were. It’s really disheartening to see so many people so upset. People who have been so dedicated and made T&M a big part of their lives.
What I see from the club indicates that they really don’t care what the fans think (the reply to you from the club being one example). I would really like this to change, I’d love to come back to IF but presently I’m not going use the time or cost to see people I know getting upset, watch a game that I know will be frustrating and being in a setting which I know will be negative. That really grates me as there’s so many good people at T&M, but what we’ve seen this season and last is pretty bloody horrific. Things shouldn’t have been allowed to go this far and it seems to be getting worse.
I think a lot of the anger on this forum stems from the fact the club just will not listen. From what I can see most other channels to engage with the club have been exhausted and now an outlet for many people is this forum. It would come across as negative to people looking in but I think it captures the genuine ire and feeling that many people have right now.
Fingers crossed that one day things get sorted out but that feels a long way off at the minute. I’d like to see the old atmosphere return and I’m gutted it’s gone, the fans don’t deserve what they’re getting now.
Cheers,
BTB

A good post Steve. I am one of the long term fans on here, as you know, going back to the mid 70s. You say this forum should be a place for fans to let off stream, vent anger etc, that is what is happening. We are no different to football fans all over the world when they see their clubs doing badly. What I see posted on here is tame in comparison to what happens at other clubs, where thousands make worse comments. Most of what gets said I agree with and is completely justified, we get very little serious reply from the owner or the club and that adds fuel to the fire. Where I do agree with you is the name calling and personal abuse used by one or two is uncalled for and needs to stop.
Yes, the stadium is too big for us. Its too big for 150 fans. Its 150 fans because of the actions of the owner and current manager. Dulwich Hamlets ground was too big for them when they were getting 150 twenty years ago. They didn't complain about the business rates or electric bill when they were climbing up the league. There are numerous other examples of local non league clubs punching above their weight and doing well despite having less income than ourselves. It should be relatively easy to get modest league success given our potential resources compared to others. We've not taken advantage of the many curious fans who have come through the turnstiles this last few seasons. Who can blame them for going elsewhere given the rubbish they have to watch week in week out.
Steve, reading your post, you seem to agree with quite a bit of the general opinion on here. The fans are the lifeblood of any club and you seem to agree that they get treated with contempt by the owner/members club. What I see posted on here is completely normal given the circumstances. I say cut out the personal abuse and carry on as we are.

Hi Andy just read your post and as usual the points you make are very relevent and i know that from time to time i go over the top with some of my remarks and shouldant do it,
I know its not an excuse but your quite right when you say that the owner/members club treat the fans with contempt so in that respect its no wonder that some people including myself blow their top and get somewhat personal after all even after the open letter that was sent recently to the members club 'little seems to have changed and as i said in another post the man who is now chairman to tell one long time fan who we all know that NO they would not be replacing the manager and that his job was safe well that statement beggars belief.
