Chipstead Match Report - Manager resigns next day

 
 Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division South - Saturday 12th October 2024 

Chipstead ultimately came away with no points to show for their efforts in their latest match in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division South at Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday afternoon, but, for the first 80 minutes, they were well in the gameThey started well enough - Ronaldo Flowers attacked inside left, but the danger was snuffed out, & the home keeper then saved from Luke CookCook curled another shot just wide of the post, & then it was Melford Simpson’s turn to be just past the targetEmmanuel Robe forged his way inside-right into the box, before aiming a left-foot shot, but it was straight at the keeperMeanwhile Joe Hall made a vital challenge at the back to blunt a home attack, before Rhys Paul got down well to abort another oneAaron Lamont found himself the furthest man forward in one attack, but the keeper blocked his path, while a Tooting defender soon lost the ball in the box, but Simpson couldn't shoot on target on the turnYoung Chips keeper Tayo Edun saved well with his feet, as a home forward bore down on his goal, & it remained 0-0 at the break.

Edun was again involved from the restart, saving the first shot from an attack down the right, but the rebound was turned in by the no. 7 to give T&M a 1-0 leadFlowers attacked, seeking an equaliser, but put his shot wide, while Edun bravely pushed a header away at close range at the other endChipstead's cause wasn't helped, as sub Adam Aziz received a straight red card for a high challenge, although fellow sub Tijani Eshilokun appeared to have been fouled seconds before, but nothing was given Edun got down well to save from a free-kick just outside the box, before Paul just couldn't get on the end of a long cross, as he tried to get his side back into the match.

Yet T&M made it 2-0 9 minutes from time, as their no. 8 shot home on the breakPaul thought he'd grabbed a consolation goal, as he headed home from Robe's corner, but the referee blew for an infringementT&M made it 3-0 in added time, as their sub no. 16 found himself in space, as Chips pushed forwardThey remain 17th in the league table ahead of next Saturday's rearranged home game in the league v. Sheerwater
