Toots up to Seventh in the league today. Promising !!! Happy New Year to all !

Hi Son of Steptoe, where Tooting finish in this totally appalling league is totally irrelevant. Even the second div of the isthmian league is just as poor. The future is not bright due to the way the Football Club is set up.

Well into this seasons campaign now. Toots find themselves in the middle position of the league with many games in hand. How will this season pan out ?

The bit that’s grabbed my attention is how our mates from SE22 are on the edge of the drop zone, especially as Hendon got a last minute point. Even more interesting is the top of that league:
Dartford - 57
Billericay - 57
Dover - 56
Horsham - 56
Cray Valley - 56
Talk about close!

Good comment BernieTheBolt, what Toots would give to be in that division mix !!! Guess I am dreaming again!!!

Thanks Mr. Steptoe, I can’t recall seeing a league with anything so close up the top, pretty much any of those teams could win it. Proper nail biting stuff for fans of those…..
This year is a foregone conclusion for us but looking elsewhere there’s the scope for south London derbys for future seasons, I’ll be the one in the park behind the ground setting off display standard fireworks when we get one in, got to do the waiting game before the chance of this comes up though….

Hi Bernie, there are plenty of local derbies in the Wimbledon and District League for Park Football, including Rosslyn Park Football Club! This should please Atkins who is an avid rugby fan, and in his own words played for "Rosslyn Park Rugby billions of years ago in his youth"!

Mike me old mate you’ve done a blinder there, I think you’ve set the scene up for some nice days out, I could imagine going down there with a few tinnies, a hedgerow which would be preferable to a fully working gents lav and the same atmosphere (by myself), probably a better game of football too.
This is where we’re at, come on! THIS IS THE COMBINED COUUUUUNTIIIESSSSSS!!!!!!

Another poor result today against Alton. The “ Wilderness Years” go on and on it seems.

A winning result last night. Are the “Play offs” still a possibility”?
Offline
We are 15 points behind 5th place so unlikely!
Offline
Fleet Town will probably finish 5th with Tadley fighting for that position as well.
The win last night was against a very poor Chipstead who are fighting relegation in this very poor grassroots league! 90 spectators attended for what is a local Derby!
Fortunately With the team Tooting have, they will not be outplayed and humiliated if ever they get promoted!

Play offs now gone after today’s defeat ! So another season beckons to regenerate, invest in, look forward to and succeed in getting promotion into a higher league.

Stop dreaming Steptoe

Well this thread has now had OVER 100,000 views which indicates to me that there are many , many supporters of this once GREAT club still interested in various degrees !
As with other postings , unless there is change , it is likely that Toots will remain in “ the Wilderness” ! There is seemingly no easy answer except the OBVIOUS , and credit to those who are trying their best on and off the field.

As agreeing with evthedog's recent posting, the seasons ends Toots 8th in this level of football, Aprils results a slight glimmer of something but ending up with nothing this campaign is the reality. Whilst the heading of this thread “ Relegation zone creeping nearer!” did not worsen this once great clubs situation it surely has not got better! Hope for better times next season , we shall see, but I would not bank on it sadly.

Sadly not a good start to this seasons campaign !

This result last night happens to every team, club and manager in the country. Even Billy Smith RIP.
The good news is we have a excellent committed manager and staff. We have characters and loads of experience in the dressing room. We have a exceptional captain in Simmo.
The boys will learn and grow as a group from this. It's a new squad and like Andy said it will take a few games to settle in. I am looking forward to my first match against Croydon on the main pitch.
