SUPPORTER STEFAN HAS REQUSTED I POST THIS MESSAGE ON HIS BEHALF
I think we are delusional to think if Tooting & Mitcham are going to progress without change.
If the supporters are to return, to see exciting football, the manager (whoever is in charge) come next season,
has to have good player contact and bring players in who are prepared to play for the club, but I can’t see
that happening because the person who has full responsibility of the club, does not want to see this club
progress and become what it once was, a great club, with players who played with passion, commitment,
energy, and had the skills that were needed to compete with the best in their respected league.
I want to make it clear, that the players we have, have tried their best, but unfortunately with the exception of their
captain, others have fallen well short of what the supporters expect to see on the terraces, and for that reason alone, a change of manager and management team is needed.
In the past, if results were not forthcoming the manager and his team were replaced. So are we saying that those
currently in charge, are happy with what they see, week in, week out ?
Are they happy see an official Tooting & Mitcham Utd website, that’s never updated. What impression does that give to the supporter or a football fan who wishes to know more about our club.
Our previous manager thought youth was our future, and played them, inexperienced players, who thought they
could cut it, but not without experience players who could hold their own against similar opposition. It was too late,
the team was relegated, and we have struggled ever since.
Somehow, we have lost the blend of players needed, to improve our position on the pitch, but do good players now
want to come and play their football at our ground or do they stay away because the structure is not what it should
be. Money alone can’t be the issue of why footballers are not attracted to playing their football at Imperial Fields,
as money should never be the driver, but just a bonus on what they should love doing ever Saturday afternoon,
playing for a club who was once respected on the pitch for what the players and manager gave at that time.
In my lifetime, probably a team like Billy & George built, who created players that gave their very best and the
supporters reacted in kind. A football partnership that I doubt I will ever see again at Imperial Fields, but will live
in the memory of the supporter, who watched great players, give their best which resulted in the voices of the
supporter reacting accordingly. That’s what football should be about. Giving something back that the supporter
wants to see every week, attractive football and not the boring football that continues to be played week after week,
driving the supporters away, which will continue unless change happens. But how long do we have to wait, until
that happens ? That’s the question.
