Stefan, has requested I post his thoughts on the Chipstead game.
Tuesday encounter could have been so different if Chipstead took their four chances
in front of goal.
Both teams gave their best on a wet greasy pitch.
Ideally, it would be nice to see an additional striker on the bench, but that’s for
management to decide. What needs to improve is the quality of free kicks and
corners and perhaps having a plan that creates opportunities for goals to happen.
So many where wasted on the night, that perhaps it needs a different player to
take them. If you have been playing football all your life, surely, it’s not that
difficult to place a ball where you want it ? Or I’m I comparing apples with pears
with different sports, where if you have been playing a ball sport it becomes natural
in the end! Please tell me if I am right or wrong here.
In Toots defence, Chipstead had tall and strong players at the back, but should that
be an excuse ?
Anyway, small improvements on the pitch would be a beneficial, but be careful of our
disciplinary record. It’s going in the wrong direction, and we may pay the price for that
as the season moves on.
