Stefan's frustrated views on the Chipstead game

Stefan has requested I post this report on the forum
It was important for Tooting and their supporters that all three points were needed to be taken
today. It was a must, and it looked like we were going to do it throughout the game but just could
not capitalise when it mattered. We tried. We really did, with good combination work between Max
and Freddie but to no avail. We just could not convert when it mattered and I was just wondering if we
were over complicating matters in the finally third.  Perhaps having an experienced No. 9 may have
made the difference. Perhaps if we just took a moment before releasing that final pass or simply
our manager coming off the bench airing his  voice may have made the difference. However, it
was clear that Chipstead were not going to lie down. They wanted it and their No.9 took two clean
goals. We were lucky to get the point. I had to leave with 7 minutes on the clock for a family
engagement, not seeing our penalty goal. From watching this match our young players are
improving and we have a good blend, but something is missing and that is simply goals, and more
goals. Goals will dictate the outcome of where we will end in this league this season and unless
we can start putting the ball away, we will not hold our position in this league. However, let’s
give credit to our players on the pitch today. They battled hard, and will feel frustrated and annoyed
that they knew that they could have won this match but for a determined Chipstead who came off
the ropes battling, and probably thought as I did, that they had got the knockout punch, But credit
to our lads, they thought differently and managed to salvage a point. But a point is not good enough
in this league. Not if we are going to remain in the top five.
