More frustration. Not much between the two teams and a draw would have been a fair result. We were 1-0 up on the stroke of half time through a fine Dan Summers volley from a corner. We should have been two ahead when Dan blazed over after the impressive Billy Marshall hit the bar with a chip from fully 35 yards. Things started to go downhill with about 15 minutes left when Billy was replaced by Harry Knock. Folkestone equalised almost immediately afterwards and then went 2-1 up from a stupid freekick conceded by Harry. Frankie Sawyer and TJ Nkoma then came on for Tom Jelley and Saidu Khan with a couple of minutes to go, but with nobody by that stage playing right back the Folkestone left winger had an easy run in to score their third.
Three harsh lessons from today. One goal is never enough. Don't give away silly free kicks. And pass forwards not backwards or sideways. Simple really.

Soon after the second half started you could sense that they would get at least one goal. Billy was unfortunate with a lovely chip that hit the bar. They then pressed and it was then inevitable that they would get a goal and as it turned out three.
Our hopes of a play off place is looking unlikely.
Billy Marshall was our best player today and I believe, I didn't hear the announcement, he was voted the MOM.

Don't know Gary. Frankie was sub today, warmed up extensively and certainly seemed to be moving much better than at the start of that South Park match.
You can discount the last goal because, with virtually no time left, we had to try anything and were wide open.
The first goal was a really neat finish from Dan and came at the perfect time just before half time. Just moments before that our keeper had pulled off a fantastic low save neither TT or Greg have mentioned above.
So were on top, had defended well and if Summers had finished off that early 2nd half chance I am certain the game would have been ours.
Their reply was an odd one because the ball was suddenly behind our back 4 when we did not appear to be in danger. An unexpected deflection was suggested to me. Anybody?
Really poor judgement from Knock. He came on as the holding midfielder to replace the excellent Marshall and see out the game. And then they scored. So we were already less well balanced to try and get back in front.
Then he gets caught by a minor challenge and decides to take immediate and very obvious retribution. The result? A free kick inside our half to be floated in to quite a tall collection of stout Kent yeoman.
We had already defended a number of corners and free kicks quite well but this one was forced in.
Another good performance from young Saidu. Gary - a while ago you were a little scornful of the youngsters being given a chance. Well he is one who has seized his chance with both hands while the skipper is out suspended. Very composed and mature on the ball.
On reflection my concern is that, no matter how much possession we have, we simply do not trouble the oppo keepers enough game after game.
A number of crosses that were hit too close to him. The Summers goal he had no chance with. A Pinnock shot driven close to him and the Marshall chip he would have had chance with.
Can't think of much more than that in 90 mins (please feel free to correct me all).
Not enough to win a game.

Bondy, the reason why we do not trouble the oppo keepers is this: Folkestone come forward, cross the ball into to box with three or four of their players waiting for it. We go forward, cross the ball into the box and we have, if we are lucky, one player waiting for it. Oh yeah, and three or four of their defenders.
The teams that we play against seem able to get players into the box but we do not. It makes scoring goals hard.

A very frustrating afternoon...again ! The miss from Dan Summers was the turning point, I think, if that goes in we would probably go on to win.
I agree with Ev, we don't get enough bodies in the box from crosses, I can understand that when the youngsters are playing wide that players can't time their runs into the box because they don't know when, or if, the ball is coming in. Sol is much more effective on the left, and he can deliver early quality ball into the danger area, so no excuses for not getting two or three players in there. Near post runs are non existent, nobody wants to do it because theres no glory in it, but it takes a defender with you, occupies the goalkeepers mind and it makes things happen for the team.
