message from Craig Tanner

Craig really appreciates your support and has asked me to ask you what you would like to see or happen.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

1. Earlier balls into the box and more bodies in the box.
2. Counter attacking: we don't do it.  Sometimes, not all of the time though,  the long punt out of the box to    the forwards works.
3.  Teach the players to head the ball.  We are not up to scratch in the air.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Bugger! and their was me having visions of standing in the dugout tomorrow, along with everybody else,
sending instructions out to Francis Quarm, if he is playing and not banned.

Just to confirm that it is mainly off the field suggestions.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

I have to agree Andy, in what vein does he request suggestions?

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Well I'm interested in on field stuff so I'll agree with Ev,..... early crosses into the box,..... more runners into the box, including the rarely seen near post run,..... keep Sol on the left,..... players that can't or don't want to head the ball can go and play netball.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Off field I think Craig and Adam are possibly being caught out by a lack of experiance (which will come) and I'm not asking for a change in management, but is it time to bring in an experianced "adviser" who can help our with the plan B etc?
Just a thought!

Re: message from Craig Tanner

I would love to see the winning team of two months ago reappear and stay until the end of the season!

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Excuse me for straying off subject however I have to say that watching TMUFC this season has been a lot like watching Everton this season. Lots of pretty football, lots of possession but simply not direct enough in the area of the pitch that really matters - more balls and more bodies required in the opposition box! Just a personal view

Off the field, picking up on a previous thread, how about getting some of the players getting into local schools to do some coaching and handing out some free tickets?

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Everton and Tooting, what a combination eh Tim ? At least Everton have the personnel in Kone and Lukaku to have a plan b and play longer ball game if needed, although that seems alien to Martinez so won't happen. Tooting have no plan b and don't have the personnel to change it either, the Terrors keep the ball on the floor, play out from the back, ok if you're Barcelona but we're not. The odd time the ball gets played up to the forwards quickly, Summers won't compete for it and Frankie isn't equped to hold the ball up. A taller, stronger player on the bench maybe, to mix it when needed ?

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Id just like a bit more communication from the management - particularly regarding the comings and goings of players. Also, Newton wasn't there today so I would be interested to know if he is injured, dropped or work commitments etc. Also I wouldn't mind, say, a monthly review of the playing performances.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Howard Newton was there today Endo.
Sadly the kick on his troublesome ankle from his friend Jordan Clarke in the Robins game and another one you may have noticed late in the last game has set him back to where he was before.
So you can expect a long lay off again I am afraid.  Came back too early.

Had a good chat with Adam after the game today and he confirmed recent training sessions have focused heavily on many of the things we have all been concerned about. That includes getting the ball in to the box more frequently to increase the number of chances.
After all, they stand there watching the same game we do.  And they actually know something about football!
Summers flew back today and should play at least some part in Tuesday.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Fully agree with your posting 59er.
Regarding the mention of Sir Clive Woodward, at times yesterday i thought we were playing rugby, and this is our weakness which teams exploit, bully us off the ball and intimidate, and until we show a bit more agression in the same way, within the rules of course, I am afraid our much more skillful players will be the target of the cloggers, with the probable result that a top ten finish is all we will achieve, and I do not say this intending to be negative.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Firstly I just wanted to say this directly so it don't get lost in translation. To Craig and Adam personally I feel the job you are doing is fantastic considering how in previous seasons we have been poor before your arrivals.
I strongly feel everyone will say you need to do this and do that on the field but end of the day your the men at the helm and you guys need to do what you believe is right for us as a club and do your own style of play and create your own identity, I think you know deep down a high number of loyal fans will support you all the way.
As for off the field where do I start, maybe more communication with the players with the supporters :-) but on a serious note I feel the actions to improve of the field need to be done above yourselves.
We need to advertise and market our great club and it absolutely bugs me when other clubs do this so much better with little effort and their stature is no where near what we are.
Also what also bugs me just 10 mins ago on radio Jackie a fecking advert for Dulwich Hamlet we really do need to push on getting the attendances up can I ask what the hierarchy are doing to solve this?
This club which I love with a passion frustrates me and makes me want to take it upon myself to actually help and do so much more then what actually happens.
I have to say I truly believe that Steve is trying his best and as the club at heart. but certain individuals won't allow certain supporters to help and contribute instead they look down their noses and think that a cup of tea in the boardroom at halftime is helping.
I feel the whole club needs a reshuffle of personal in my opinion and inject some new younger and new dynamics to the club. I'm sorry if I have offended some people but I'm the voice of the voiceless.
Maybe a open meeting with fans, staff, players, backroom staff, bar staff, stewards and anyone associated with the club to have a open, Frank, honest, no holds barred meeting where every single person gets their say and can suggest ways to improve our club,
But as in the past all the above won't be considered or anyone else's suggestions on this forum.
It's time for certain sections of the hierarchy to take the plunge and have some courage.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Dare I say it, is it not time to try and stop the feud and intice those from a certain team sharing most of our name back. I have no knowledge of there attendences, following etc but surely something could be done to heal the rift. Saying that I am still fairly new to being a Tooting and Mitcham united fan having caught the bug late and don't really know the full story and reasons why this exists.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

They probably get two men and at least one dog but that's all I would think.
They play their "home" games at Whyteleafe apparently - must cost them an absolute fortune !

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left !

We could always welcome the dog, he would get on well with my four

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Believe me there are a number of elder statesmen within the hierarchy that would like to step aside however we simply don't have the people coming forward that are prepared to commit themselves to replacing them

Open meetings are great in theory but they end up just turning into "talking shops" with no progress actually being made. In the 6 or so seasons I have been involved with the Club I have attended 3 or 4 such sessions which have all followed a similar pattern. People are very vocal in putting forward suggestions as to what "we"should do or what "the club" should do however when push comes to shove, it's very rare that someone actually proposes something that they are prepared to do themselves, put forward a plan as to how they would do it and then actually act on their own proposal.

Picking up on something that you mentioned Chezzer, how about a starter for ten? You mentioned about hearing an ad on Radio Jackie for a Dulwits fixture (I have to laugh as my auto correct has just changed Dulwits to Dimwits!). Before he had his head turned by the dark side, this was something that Martin Waring always used to do for us - make sure that Radio Jackie were aware of our forthcoming fixtures and got them to give them a mention in the week leading up to a home game. So as a simple starter for ten, who out there amongst the many that read this forum is prepared to commit themselves to contacting Radio Jackie during the remainder of this season to advise them of our forthcoming home fixtures and ask them to give us a plug?

Chezzer, you have also mentioned on a separate post about certain supporters not being allowed to help by certain members of the hierarchy? Please send me a  PM - I would like to know please who has been prevented from doing what and who it was that prevented them from doing it

Re: message from Craig Tanner

I think any proposed "open" meeting should have a proper agenda (that should be followed!), and preferably a list of "actions" to be taken following the meeting.  And any agenda should be fairly specific and target just 1 or 2 issues.  There can always be more meetings.

Re: message from Craig Tanner

Thank you Alan, I will dig out their contact details tomorrow and send on to you.

Next starter for ten everyone......

I noticed today that the board outside our ground is still advertising a game that was played 14 days ago rather than the game due to be played in less than 48 hours time. A perennial problem I know. It's another one of those things where everyone thinks it's someone else's responsibility. Crazy really because it only needs to bring in an extra few people in through the gate and every one benefits. New people are always moving into the area and if they are like me when I first moved here 7 years ago and didn't even realise I had a football club across the road at first, they will be reliant on that board to tell them what's happening - and as I say, all interested parties will benefit whether that be through additional gate money to the club's owners, more bar revenue for the operating company or more pasties sold by Statler & Waldorf!

So, here it is then - who wants to volunteer to change the board after each game? And it doesn't have to be someone who lives locally- it just needs to be someone (or more than volunteer) who comes to the games because ideally as soon as one fixture is completed we should be advertising the next.

Any takers for this one?

Re: message from Craig Tanner

I'm sure their will be no shortage of people to help on any issues I for one will put my hand up to help as I always have done.
If I may put in a bonus question with the amount of staff that are employed by the club in the facilities we have why can't they do it, or the members club delegated to perhaps appoint someone to do this.
Isn't there a facilities manager employed at the ground? Who probably gets paid to do such things or is it KNK?
I'm sorry if it seems I'm coming across as a arse in all of this but it's simple things that common sense should be used.
