Surprise, surprise

Enfield Town Football Club has today (Tuesday) been unsuccessful in its bid to overturn the verdict of the FA Regulatory Commission in respect of alleged breaches of FA Rule E10 (fielding a player while suspended).

Obviously.  Because, however many good excuses a club might have, for the FA not to do so would set a dangerous precedent and encourage other clubs to appeal.
And if a player informs you they have already picked up 9 bookings when they join it might be a good idea to take that on board.

So we went through all that nonsense and faced a full strength Hendon side eager for match practice in the cup final for nothing.  Grrrrr

You're quite scary when you're angry Bondy.

I wouldn't have wanted to beat their reserves in the final anyway, it would've made the victory a bit hollow.

Re: Surprise, surprise

I agree Bog End, the glory on the night was ours, the lads have every right to feel justifiably proud of their effort, only three minutes away from a major upset.

Re: Surprise, surprise

That's not to say I wouldn't have still celebrated. It takes a lot more than a hollow victory to keep me off the booze.

Re: Surprise, surprise

The Ryman League's Premier Division play-offs will kick off on Thursday night after the Football Association dismissed Enfield Town's appeal on Tuesday.
As a result, Thursday's semi-finals will see Hendon host the Metropolitan Police with Margate at home to Dulwich Hamlet.
Both matches will kick off at7.45pm with the winners meeting in the play-off final on Sunday in a 3pm kick-off.

Oooh, that'd be nice, a possible Plod against either Dulwits or 'Gate final on a Sunday afternoon at Plodville !   Now where's my diary ??

Bu99er ! It'd be at Margate or Dulwits wouldn't it if Plod won    and I'm certainly not going to our pink pals ground and Margate's a step too far on a Sundayafternoon.

Re: Surprise, surprise

I don't know, with Mrs Bondy enjoying a well deserved break from me I might fancy a trip to the seaside.
All my childhood holidays were spent in Margate in a guest house looking out over the park that eventually leads to the footie ground.   The sun shone every day!

Given that Thursday is the 14th May and Sunday the 17th with players contracts by now long expired I wonder how many players those four teams will be missing?
Any players without kids could.quite easily, like Billy, have departed to take advantage of cheaper prices and therefore be robbed of their fleeting moment in the sun.    (I'm getting angry again Boggie).

Re: Surprise, surprise

I'm not going to keep on ('That will make a change' I hear you say) but......
From the Margate web site:
Sadly due to the delay in the play-off fixture the temporary stand has been removed from the club for another event so the entire Coffin end will be standing only.

So a club make the effort to promote an important fixture and raise a good crowd in and get kicked in the dangly bits financially.
Perhaps they could write to Enfield and see if those fans who chipped in to pay for the QC's advise might stump up some compensation for them.  No?
Right, I've stopped on this subject now.   Promise.
