A message from Frank Wilson...

It’s been a full-on period since getting appointed as First Team Manager along with my assistant/First Team Coach Mark Hams and we have loved every minute of it and for us, pre-season couldn’t come quick enough.
I understand that there has been a little frustration amongst the supporters as they are obviously keen to know what we are doing in preparation for the new season and I fully understand it. The club are currently having a new website being built and it should be nearing completion very soon and when it is ready, we will make a point of making the necessary announcements and so we just need everyone to hang on a little bit longer!
The Pre Season schedule has been a real success and we all look forward to getting it underway on the 23rd June. For us as Managers/Coaches, it was important to not only format a program that is going to be testing and competitive for the players but we also wanted to make it rewarding for the supporters which is why we pulled all our resources in order to get games against opposition in higher tiers than ourselves – we also want our players to gain experience playing against higher-ranked opposition and so consequently, we feel this will get the best out of the players and the fans will also enjoy some good ‘friendlies’. We were delighted to get fixtures arranged against both Fulham & Crystal Palace towards the back end of Pre Season. Not only will the players respond to these high-profile matches but again, it gives the club some much needed spectatorship before the season kicks off on the 8th August and the supporters of course deserve to see their players match up against professional opposition.
I know there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the playing staff and we understand that as new management there are uncertainties but Mark and I are extremely confident in the decisions we have made to keep on some existing players and also bring in some new faces to help strengthen the squad.
We are delighted to retain the services of Dan Summers and he was equally pleased to be staying with us this season and we look forward to working with Dan and setting new targets for him this year. Along with Dan,the likes of Bashiru Alimi, Max Noble and Harry Knock will be staying on and we were pleased to agree new deals for our Academy graduates TJ and Leon who we know will be looking to make a big impact this year.

Some new faces include Daryl Siew, a young, strong talented defender from Farnborough Town, Serge Makofo - a pacey forward who has been playing professional football for most of his career at the likes of MK Dons and Grimsby then more recently at Whitehawk and some others who we are keeping a lid on for now but look forward to working with in pre-season.

Just before pre-season kicks off next week, we have organised a trial match which is being held at the club this Sunday 21st June. The club has received such an incredible volume of applications for new players and we know how important it is to facilitate that and so we look forward to welcoming those participating in the trial match this weekend.

We look forward to making more announcements soon and I look forward to meeting you all during the course of pre season.

Frank Wilson.
