Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

Alan, sorry to correct you but Hento should be spelt Gento but pronounced Hento was Spanish & played for the very successful Real Madrid with Puskas & Di Stefano etc

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

It won't have been Puskas on account of him being 'brown bread'

Must be some other Hungarian bloke.

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

Lol no he is British born but lived in Sweden most of childhood He was in hungary for work for 2 years. Raymond Testling is his name.
he was telling me he played manly in the Swedish non league scene and played for some long arsed named team from the age of 16 and then had trails for Newcastle and Sunderland at the age of 19. In his own words didn't cut the grade.
Went back to Sweden and got a break with Malmo then quit the professional side at 25 as he was making more money working then football.
Got a job in Hungary but was on a part time contract for Inter CDF then now back in blighty

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

The players who played last season that were training on Tuesday were: Sol Pinnock, Dan Summers, Billy Marshall, Bash, Paul Smith, Bobby Aspinall, also there were the Cheadle Bros. These are the only ones that I could recognise.

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

Just popped back from tonight's training session. Whilst it doesn't mean too much at this early stage in proceedings I can confirm the following familiar names all present; Jordan Cheadle, Bash, Bobby Aspinall, Billy Marshall, Vernon Francis, Josh Cover, TJ, Leon and Jordan Clarke

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

Well that's a pretty mean looking squad already. Having big vernon back should add that steel in midfield. I feel Jordan Cheadle back in the forray adds that goal threat,
Out of the new, old and returning faces I hope we have a good blend of experience and youth

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

No mention of Captain Quarm in any of these posts. I was talking to my Brazilian mate who plays for Carshalton (who is a BIG lump himself) and he told me Quarmy tackled him last season and thought he'd broken about three of his legs, he told me he didn't stop shaking for two days Quarmy had hit him that hard

Personally I feel that Francis and Bash are two peas from the same pod (like me and 59er.....sorry Deeps, 59er and I) not sure we need two holding midfielders, out of the two I prefer Bash anyway.

Like Quarm as I do, he was suspended a lot and I prefer Bash.

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

In my honest opinion they both were quite similar but if I had to chose between them both it would be bash, only by a small margin.
If quarmy is not returning, then the bash and vernon partnership in midfield depending if vernon decided to sign on this season I think it would work a treat but let's see what we have coming in and toughen up the defense

Yes Bogend couldn't agree more, Bash and Captain Quarm - two peas in a pod.

So if Quarmy is going........sorry pod - looks like it's you mate.

Re: Did any of our roving reporters go training last night?

some more returning faces at tonight's session; young full back Alex Fillipe, Zenio Aiken-Simon, Nathan Simpson ( a full bback who played for us under Roberto, Jamie Martin and Phil Simpson) and Josh Turner (right nack/centre back who played for us during Craig's first season before being out with a long term injury). Early days, but the players wroked hard tonight and some looked very sharp - some tough decisions to be made by Frank and Mark over the next few days

I was impressed by Turner when he was here and I thought he might make a good wide midfielder.
