Why Billy Smith

A few weeks into the new season and we already into another continuing farce at this Football Club.  #

I Understand Billy has been seen in the stands at a number of home games this year   Billy Smith is a Tooting Legend, why on earth should he come back to the club that screwed him up, when he was just starting to turn things around. The way he was treated in the last few weeks of his managerial career at the club was disgraceful. To have the temerity to ask him surely is the lowest of the low!

There were posting in 2010 on the forum (Club Members), after his departure, suggesting a match to be arranged as tribute for his service to the club. It’s now 2015…what happened?  I really hope Billy does not get involved after the way he was treated.

The Football Club needs some proper investment (In house or external), and run by individuals who know something about Football. I am talking about budgets to get us into the conference South  where it belongs minimum, not the dire 4th rate substandard rubbish Football endured over the last few years.

All ambitions have gone. The crowds are fast disappearing, not even 100 Tuesday. I think there is more people reading the forum than attending matches!

We have AFC Norbition desperate to get back into Merton with their Football League status, and we have our Football club with all Its facilities and potential going to waste year after year. At least AFC have plans to get back into Merton, we seem to a have no plans at all for the future of our Football club! Planned to fail comes to mind.

Like many others who have supported the club over the decades, it really hurts to write messages like this, but enough is enough!

Re: Why Billy Smith

I don`t think I have seen anybody suggesting Billy comes back to manage, but his advice regarding a successor would be invaluable.
I am sure he would have understood the reason for the reduction in the budget at the time, even if he did not agree with it.
Also who could blame him and George, for deciding they did not wish to work with a reduced budget.
At the end of the day I am sure he is a big enough man to put the club first, and personal feelings second, but as the saying goes "if you do not ask you will not get"!
