The game had 0-0 written all over it. Both teams fairly solid at the back; both teams cancelling each other out in midfield and both teams toothless up front. I would say that Tooting had the better of the first half but the second half was boring. We lost to a pretty poor goal keeping error: I do not think that either team had it in them to score.
South Park certainly did not look like a play-off side

Have to disagree ev about their goal. I was at that end of the ground when their guy is going for the ball & mr. Simmo could not be bothered to try and get to him, that's why the keeper came out. So another error of judgement from our skipper

Thanks Geoff. From where I was standing up the other end, it looked like the keeper having a mad moment. I stand corrected!
Hi.
I am a Godalming Town supporter and due to the family being down in the area today of Reigate, I was not able to get back to the G's beating Royston at home. However, I was able to get away from the family for 90 minutes to catch up on our ex captain 'simmo' and Paul Dale.
After looking at the league table, I was curious to see 'what was going on!', and after today's performance I still don't understand what's going on! The team and travelling fans were very unlucky not to come away with all three points which would have been thoroughly deserved.
A very solid defensive line and a resolute team defensive display, something that we got used to seeing at Wey Court last season.
I came on here curious to see how the fans felt about today, and started to scroll through some of the threads, which are very interesting, and if you don't mind, I would like to add my two pence as a 'fellow non leaguer':
1. Today's goal was an error which started in the middle of the pitch, which fell nicely out of a tackle for the striker to run on to. No danger and going wide in the box, the keeper tried to take charge of the situation, vocally displayed that, which was the wrong decision in my opinion as 'simmo' would have been able to get across and force the player away. Not sticking up for our ex- captain, but your keeper also vocally apologised to his back four after making the error.
2. The reason why I commented on this thread, is because there seems to be a great deal of new members over the last few days who seem to just be on here to verbally abuse people within the management/playing/club staff. I appreciate that this forum is a room to air your opinions, but to constantly attack the club that you so call 'support', makes me wonder whether you support the club for the right reasons. After a good display today, there is still nothing but negative comments. We choose to turn up and support our local non league team, yet the majority of us seem to have a vision that we are clued up, well educated football coaches and managers ourselves and spend our time slating players/asking for the managers head after a run of poor results. That doesn't bring stability, and it also doesn't bring a sense of team/fan unity.
I can assure you, after what I saw today, against 7th in the league (who were an extremely poor side) you will finish in the top 10, nearer to play offs.
3. It's refreshing to see that TMU have given an opportunity to a young manager in the last 3 seasons. What I don't understand is the reaction of fans and their not so well thought through comments.
If you want a quick fix to this club that you say is in dribble, then go out, find yourself an experienced manager, pump silly money into it, get your quick fix, and find yourself in a far more difficult situation than you're in now. I feel that with the opportunity you have with a young manager, who wants to succeed, gets given the time to stabilise the club whether it be 2/3/4 seasons. that brings familiarity, a bond within the club, and loyalty, and a club that fans can feel part of, whether or not they disagree with how the club is run behind closed doors.
In short, what I'm trying to say is that it's nice to see a passionate set of fans who care so much about their club and its welfare. I believe that the way you care, is by getting behind your team and manager, week in week out, instead of seeing people boycotting games because of personnel, or going to games just to see how poorly your team plays so it gives you something to talk about on here.
Don't personally attack players, especially when you do not attend games, or at all in fact. They are the players that you would happily support/shake their hand at the end of the season if you were to finish in the top half/playoffs.
And finally, if it's not the club you thought it was, and can't go on supporting the side, then don't do it to yourself. It's non league football. There's no point losing sleep over it, nor be angry over it. It is a passion that we share for enjoyment. If you don't enjoy it, pull yourself away from it.
All our players spoke very highly of Paul when he was with us, and I feel that TMU have grabbed themselves a top coach.
I will certainly be making another trip down again at some point throughout the season (this time to a home game).
Keep getting behind the team and management. It's a journey for all of you. Have your ups and downs together. After today's viewing, you will be a top 10 side this season.
Again just an outsiders point of view, and I wish you guys the very best for the rest of the season. I enjoyed my time back over in the Ryman division with nice local games.
Gman.

I would also like to reiterate what my fellow supporter 59robbery stated, over the past week or so we appear to have collected, and I will not call them supporters, a few people who only post negative comments and their sole aim is to cause trouble, unfortunately our administrator, as yet, has not seen fit to block them, so it is up to us, the real supporters, to just ignore them and hopefully they will slink back into the holes from whence they came.
The only thing I would disagree upon is that a point either side would have been fair, as neither side worked the keepers enough to gain all three.
I do not know if you are aware but on Tuesday we lost 7 - 2 to Chatham, who are below us, we were absolutely awful, every player, but against South Park the players redeemed themselves, especially with four new ones coming in.
As you rightly say "Simmo" I feel is a good player and a welcome addition to our squad this season, but he is only human, but he and his normal partner Daryl Siaw have been the foundation of a normally good defensive partnership.
Not wishing to brag, but you will be pleasantly surprised at our set up at "Imperial Fields" it is certainly of a higher standard than almost all the non-league teams.
Look forwqard to your visit G man.

An extremely accurate view of the current Forum situation Gman ! We could well do without the vehemence of these opinions and the way in which they are being portrayed !
