Can anyone remember taking penguins to Molesey????
In fact, does anyone recognise anyone in the picture?

Yes, that's me 4th from the left with my hair tied back in a bun and the pearl earring.
And the big fella dead centre in the baseball cap is Bill Werbeniuk the Canadian snooker player unless I'm very much mistaken.

Looks like "Statto" with his arm in the air and "Hackbridge Harry" leaning forward shouting abuse at the Ref (no change there then ?) - although back in those days he was masquerading as a Gooner !

That photo was taken pre Statto. He didn't start attending until our final season at Sandy Lane (although no doubt he will correct me on that) In fact it was also pre Fretters. I started attending the year after that photo.

How did everyone cope without being kept up to date with the latest score from Cowdenbeath reserves?

If I remember correctly, that Molesey game was in the FA Cup and finished 1-1. The replay was an incident filled affair involving the referee. When me and my mates arrived inside the ground we were as perplexed as anybody to see an army of inflatable penguins. I think they were something to do with Bill Hill, though I could be wrong.
Cowdenbeath reserves drew nil-nil with Arbroath reserves but we didn't find that out until Sunday morning. That's what we had to endure pre Statto, waiting for the Sunday papers..........How I miss that.

Is that not Pete Woodhouse on the left ?

Yes - alongside Gary H and John L

From left to right, Pete Woodhouse who hasn't changed a bit, Sad Gary Lincoln, next to Gary I'd say that's Bill the Spurs fan (big mate of Dave Irons) and I reckon that could be a young looking 'Golden Goals' himself next to Bill. No idea who the two on the right are.
Gary and the bloke second from the right are in collar & tie and Pete's ironed his trousers, was the photo taken at a wedding or a football match ?
I don't know who John L is Endo, is he one of the two on the right ?

Just got a text message from Mr.Golden Goals himself with the full line up......
l to r Pete Woodhouse, Sad Gary Lincoln, Billy Boy, Dave Irons, Clive Drew, Steve Curtis. Apparently the photo was taken at Barking. Why Pete felt the need to iron his trousers to go to Barking is anyone's guess. Dave tells a funny story about the flag in the picture....." Bumps washed the flag and it came back Orange. We bought the flag and Billy painted words and badge on it, paint went through and my living room table had Tooting & Mitcham Utd wrote across it."
Now that's funny

Dave Irons beat me to it
Clive and Steve were stalwarts in the 80s and 90s..both Mitcham boys, they moved away when they both got married. Some of you may remember Steve's Dad Dennis who stood on the half way line of Sandy Lane and during periods of no action due to an injury would shout " don't just stand there, practice"
The ironed trousers were work attire at the time, as the game in question, indeed Barking away was an evening game and I had come straight from work
As for the penguins we can thank the Constantine brother's ( to Tina )...one of which worked at London zoo and decided to "adopt" an animal in the colours of TAMUFC..hence the black & white penguins..They were purchased from the London zoo shop.....
