Darryl Siaw has been released and it seems that Ollie Treacher is the subject of a 7 day approach from Met Police, so may also be on his way.

It appears to be Frank`s policy, but I stand to be corrected, if a player comes in who is better than the present encumbent in that position, then the existing player goes, I do not see as how that can benefit the squad, surely it is better when players are vying for positions but I do appreciate you can only keep so many players happy.
So who will now partner "Simmo" whilst he serves his suspension?

Adriano is the obvious choice at centre-back and Sol P-B would be a more than able partner. Knocky (when fit) could fill in, some people believe centre-back is his best position ( I'd agree he looks more at home in the middle than at right back ). Shame about Daryl, hope he finds himself a new club very soon, nice geezer.

Sadly Alan there is no vying for position, because if you are not in the starting eleven you get no football whatsoever: how can you impress if you do not play?
Without a reserve team there is no competitive football whatsoever for those not in the starting eleven, and they just end up warming up the bench and end up leaving the club like Jordan Cheadle because there is no hope of playing any football at all. It was a big, big mistake to do away with the reserve team

Surely that is another reason for training sessions, to have a look at a player and assess, but I understand what you are saying regarding no reserves.
I found it strange that Frank does not think any one from the Academy could step up, after all that is where TJ came from, to name but one, so is he inferring the quality is just not there.

Frank said that the quality IS there, but that the jump from teenage football to 1st team football, particularly the physicality of it, is very big.

That makes sense Endo.

As well as giving squad players who are not in the starting eleven a game, a reserve team also provides a bridge for the youth players, a stepping stone, to the first team squad.
It should be reintroduced next season.

Was there an explanation as to why Darryl was "released"? Nobody could say we wasn't good enough, surely!

Shame to lose both of them. (although maybe Ollie will stay!).
Both very capable and will no doubt play at a higher level after leaving us.
Darryl one of the better "footballing" centre backs I've seen. Very comfortable on the ball and willing to run the ball out of defense. Risky at times - yes, but very refreshing and he could play.
Shame to lose him.
Olly Treacher has been the most consistent player in our team since the beginning of the season in my opinion.

It seems to be like the really bad season when we were relegated at moment regarding players. The revolving doors seems to be working over time in the number of players sign , released, signed, left.
How many players are we up to who have currently played or been on the bench?

Daryl hasn't featured since the Chatham debacle but you couldn't say he was any worse than anybody else that night. Ollie has received a lot of praise for his consistency but for me he's too slow getting back whenever he ventures forward, I watched him at Whitstable and it looked like he was treading water trying to get back in the second half, he was blowing so hard the Seagulls all moved inland. I do like Ollie as a left back but he's no Nathan Gordon. Gavin Quintyne has been fine at left back ( again, he's no Nathan Gordon ) but his goal line clearance at Casuals in the dying minutes was one of the best/bravest I've ever seen, it was one of those where you resign yourself to the fact they're going to score and suddenly Gavin launches himself Peter Schmichaelesque to make the block with his body.....Brilliant.
